being able to send mail to characters on the same account!

Seriously, all you folks at SE, you are bringing to this game lots of great new content and features that make this gem shine all the brighter, but the restrictions you have placed on in-game mail messages border on the ludicrous.

What is so dangerous about being allowed to send mail to our mates in our Free Companies without being on their friends' lists? What is so horrific about being able to send mail to other characters of our own on our own accounts on the same server?

Please, let us send mail to ourselves. Please, let us send mail to our Free Company mates without having to send a friend request to the several hundred characters on our FC Member List.

I heard someone speculate once that this ban on being able to send messages to the characters we have the greatest need in communicating with has something to do with making life difficult for the RMT trolls. I sincerely hope that is NOT the real reason -- if it is, then you folks at SE are FAILING MISERABLY at it. I can assure you that since none of my FC friends and none of my characters are RMT trolls that any efforts in this area are doomed to failure.

They may be looking at opening up a feature to pay to mail to your alts. If that happens you can look forward to more microtrans ahead.

The thing is that we don't have ANY microtransactions in FFXIV ... yet, to be sure ... but gutting the functionality of a principle aspect of the Internet since back in 1970 or so hardly seems the place to begin. Minions for fantasyBuck$? Outfits that have no combat or crafting use so it's not pay-to-win-with-fantasyBuck$? Sure ... what Pay2play game out there doesn't have pets and costumes as things you can buy?

The ability to talk to yourself or your guildies? That's a bit of a stretch.

Being able to buy more retainers? THAT I can see.

Agree, i doubt it would take much to allow us to add our alt characters to our friends list.

Of course as other have said they won't do this now because they expect us to pay for retainers.

And I missed out on the exploit pre-2.1 that let you friend characters on the same account. Even though my mates in the FC don't mind me trading an item to them to pass on or using the company chest, I still look at it as an unnecessary bother.

I can exactly see why you'd/they'd want to stop mailing between alts... but realy if you need to transfer stuff you can just use a company chest anyway

If you can only be send Mail by FList people you can remove him immediately to not be spammed again.
But if one of your FC buddies gets hacked, you'll have to kick him so that his char doesn't bombard you with spam mails. You could just simply kick him, yes. Just like you could just simply add him to your Flist so that you can exchange mails.

Really it's not a big of a deal...

Now i agree that there should be a Chest in our Inn that is linked with every char we create.
But I guess SE's only looking at numbers and the numbers seem to indicate that most players stick to 1 character.
And why should you be able to transfer items to other characters if you only have one?

Cmon, there are more important things to address than not being able to send mail to yourself or others without being in a Flist.
