    I may be wrong but I didn't see them say anywhere that new tome gear would be weaker than new coil gear. When asked a question if they would be the same level he said "not necessarily" which I just took to mean that again weapons will be 5 levels higher.

    I like that raiding gets the highest ilevel of gear now. It shows you accomplished the hardest content and didn't just farm a bunch of easy 4 man dungeons.

    Which would be fine if you actually obtained gear from Coil, instead of obtaining a chance at getting gear, that caps out at ~76% in the incredibly unlikely event that you 1) can clear every turn (23~33% if you clear one turn, 40~62% if you clear two, 60~70% if you clear three, depending on how your class's loot is distributed across the turns), 2) have zero pieces of Coil gear (every piece you have means a lower chance of getting a piece that you don't have, meaning that by the time you only need one more piece, you only have about a 6% chance of actually seeing it, every week), and 3) you are the only person in your group who can roll Need on a particular piece (in other words, if you are a tank or a healer, a BLM or SMN in a group that runs both, or in a group with multiple physical DPS classes, you can cut all of those percentages in half - so about 38% in the absolute best case scenario, and only a 3% chance in the worst.



    In other words, if there's a 6 month (26 week) wait until the next iLevel increase, if you clear Turn 9 every single week from the very first week that 2.2 hits, you've only got about a 55% chance overall of getting that last piece of gear. Better hope you don't get stuck on Turn 8 or Turn 9 for a few weeks, better hope you don't miss a week, better hope you don't want to make use of the Armoury system to ever play more than one class, etc.

    There are some very valid arguments to be made against a system that guarantees access to the best rewards without ever requiring participation in anything more than the absolute easiest max-level content in the game, but the current system is unquestionably superior to one where players who are participating in and clearing the hardest content in the game are receiving nothing as a reward, for months on end.

RNG will kill this system idea and just because I know everyone loves to hear this, but if this system is not reconsidered and RNG still sucks I am sorry but I will unsubscribe.

    Yo no 1 will probably clear coil
    T6-9 in the first few weeks.
    Took BG quite a while before t5 clear.
    So assuming most ppl watch strat videos and need to gear up, i assume t9 weekly loot will go to waste for about a solid month or so.
    People can't possibly expect to face roll it like they did with ex primals.
    But prepare urself for the PF ilvl requirements for coil XD
    Ilvl100+ only plz
    Haha it will be fun to see PF get filled with coil T1-9
    New ilvl galoreeeeeee!

    I agree with you Crater.

    I just cleared coil today for the last time before the patch and I finally just got the choker of fending. After clearing caduecus for the first time in September and never missing a kill after that. I'm fine with the ilevel difference between the allagan and tome gear, however, they need to address the fact that the rng system is terrible. 10 clears of twin and zero axes or tank helms either. 3 smn/2sch and 1 of everything else but no axe or blm weapon.

    We're just going to have to wait and see how turns 6-9 work. If it's the same garbage as 1-5 with 9-10 items in a single chest and bosses only drop 2 chests then the devs need to address this issue.

    Again the process for raiding for the best gear is nothing new to MMOs. The lockout on raids zones is nothing new to MMOs. And guess what it works and it's a pretty fair system. So RNG isn't on your side...too bad guess what though you'll either 1. Keep raiding or 2. Quit the game. If you're a raider though, you will more than likely just continue to raid because you understand how this whole ordeal goes. Do I think it would be better if there was more than 1 single zone to raid so you had more options to try to obtain gear...of course I do. Most MMOs have 2 maybe even 3 zones that drop gear so you have plenty of opportunity to get gear for your toon, but this game only has one so just deal with it. This game has an issue with horizontal gear progression and they need to work on it, and they will, but it won't be by removing raid zone lockouts or giving you Coil level gear from a vendor...looks like they are done with that crap now.

    People in this thread talking like 'OMG I cannot believe this game has lockouts and raiding is the only way to get the top iLVL of gear'...what MMOs have you been playing in the last 10 years...the majority of them follow this type of system more or less. I love it, regardless if my RNG is bad (and my RNG is this game is plenty bad but oh well).

    And on a side note if you're not doing Coil you have no need for Coil level gear...to do what run instances...that's why there will be crafted and Tome gear for those purposes. Not everyone is entitled to have the best of everything...you want the highest level of gear then you should raid to get it plain and simple. Why people feel they should have access to 'everything' because they pay the same fee as everyone else is so ridiculous. It's like me complaining that I don't have max level crafters, but yet I don't want to craft. If you don't want to raid Coil you shouldn't be able to have Coil level gear.

I for one, do not want to pay for a game that I feel no sort of progression based on a weekly lockout lottery system, but as you said if there were other raids that drop the same ilvl no big deal but with a 1 stop shop, yeah no ty.

    When Ex primals came out came out they were turned about the same level as coil people had full ilvl 90 at that point as well so yea they got beat in the first week. But this time with coil being 20 ilvls higher I would expect the difficulty to ramp up over the turns and people won't be beating the whole thing first week.

    People aren't surprised this game has lockouts and a rng system. They're surprised that it's 2014 and SE is still doing these stupid things.

    SE needs to keep subs for this game, so wouldn't it be in their best interest to move to a more fair loot system that WoW adopted 10 years ago? Last I check WoW's still going strong with millions of subs even in their current low period between expansions.
