Almost everything that they've done has been stymied due to a half completed game engine and poor server infrastructure. They can't work on those because it would involve taken the game down for weeks and stopping work on content or game redesigns.

OK, remind yourself not to work in server administration then. If I told my company I was going to take down all the core servers to implement an upgrade without a backup server I'd be eating ramen and dirt and living in a van down by the river.

You honestly think there's no way to work on the game without taking all the servers down? How did you come to that conclusion?
