Now hear me out, I'm not suggesting SE abandon the game. I am simply asking if you, as a gamer, would be upset if Final Fantasy was taken offline for a year or two to allow the current Dev team to fix the game and re-release it instead of trickling updates like they are.
Currently it seems like the new Dev team has some sort of idea on how they want the game to turn out. I'm not entirely sure where that vision will take us, but I'm assuming it will at least leave us with a game that we enjoy.
The fact that we knowthe game is actually moving somewhere is good, but I think how it is being done is not. Working on improving individual systems and implementing small parches to introduce new content in tiny waves will not please the playerbase like a frees launch would.
I am beginning to think that shutting down the game and rebuilding everything at once before relaunching is the way to go. Your teams could start by all getting on the dame server on Final Fantasy 11 and playing fresh characters to max to find out what fun systems from the past to add to the future. By having everyone on the Dev team do this and write down the different aspects of the game they enjoy as they go you would build a sort of storyboard to use while rebuilding Final Fantasy 14.
Also, just to clarify, I'm not saying SE should make this an exact copy of 11. I'm simply saying that they should take the good systems they discovered in the past and add them to this game where possible. From there they can build on that foundation and form the beautiful game we all had hoped for when we first found out about this game.
I know that doing this could cause some players to be lost, but is that even a problem with the amount of damage that was done at launch?
I'm anxious to hear your thoughts on this, it's a question I have had floating around in the old skull for a few weeks now.
