Wait. I thought that the gear would have a weekly lockout like CT. Did they ever confirm this?

thats exactly it, pretty much since 2.2's details were announced ive been seeing a steady decline in the amount of time my FC and static mates play. last week most stopped logging in after we cleared t1-4(we are/were still working on t5) and our ex primal weeklies. this week i doubt they show up at all. i guess it was to be expected but still leaves me a little disheartened. will this become a pattern? sure its only a week now, but as players get better and gear gets better whats to stop people from burning out on 2.2 in a month? He doesn't mean they're bored and they didn't show up because of lack of content.
He means they didn't show up because 2.2 is going to take the week timers off coil, so why run it at all right now when you can farm the runs you need specifically one at a time for the gear, which may not motivate people in their statics.
One week off *WHAAAA*...
Are you serious right now?
If you've already beat t5 and everyone's i90 I can 100% understand quitting Coil before 2.2. It's just a matter of perspective - why continue to do content that you've already entirely done and capped on armor ilvl? Do you really NEED that +5 Crit Rate difference? While I love all my friends in FF14, I'm not coming back to do anything 'til 2.2; Everyone needs a break, you can't bang your head against content forever that will immediately be irrelevant to you in the next patch. Even if you don't have an Allagan Weapon, we're looking at new weapons that will be way better in way easier content (if Levi EX drops weapons they'll definitely be either on-par or above with Allagan).
Just chill out for a week, Coil will still be there in 2.2. Infact, more of it!

Yea the static I was in for like the last month either quit the group or have not decided to come wasn't until after they announced the no lockout for coil that the group fell apart.
Why is everyone quick to bash the OP?
She wants something to do with friends that were made in game. Is that so weird? We are talking about maybe spending 1 to 2 hours a week with seven people that you usually play with every week.
Is a 2 hour game, that is played once weekly, truly considered a "hardcore" game? If so, you people are really silly!
Is it so much to ask that a game provide you with enough of a carrot to chase that you'd have something to do for 2 hours in a given week with the friends you've made?
Sure a 1 week break isn't a big deal. However, for a group of people that only meet for such a short amount of time each week, it could mean that the group is just over. The string holding it together was just this short activity. Really this is something that shouldn't have to happen.
Personally I think it's a oversight. The game creators don't *have* to entertain us. But is having something to do every week such a tall order to fill? People love this game, despite it's flaws, so telling me to go somewhere else if I'm not happy isn't reasonable. Making a small change so that even a minority stays together is not going to hurt everyone else. Such a change will actually help the community and the majority.

Watch there's a lock-out on Coil 1-5...
I don't recall them every saying it would be a free-for-all, just that the current lock-out was moving to T6-9. It may be we have a CT-like lock-out on T1-5 now.
We'll know on Sat I bet.
2.2 comes out in two weeks, so I could understand people not wanting to raid these next two weeks.
And if its really because "There is no lockout in 2.2" because your group wants to farm Coil T1-T5 loots that gear is going to be irrelevant anyways.
Edit.
Woops wrong interveiw.. . been drinking haha. but he did mention it in the live letter.
