Just so you know, WoW2 is known as Rift.... Complete copy with only visual differences and different story.IMO They should've built XIV off of XI. I have no doubt about that. People that play WoW are gonna expect a WoW2 that resembles the first one. FFXI had something original, they had to use that game as the base and build it up from there.
Many people are saying that FFXIV has so much potential, but i just dont see it.
Just my 2 cents
This thread has reached phenomenal levels of stupidity. What a surprise.
Exactly I don't really see anyone asking for a direct clone but asking for ideas and system from FFXI that worked and worked well to be looked at and then made even better for FFXIV.
Campaign is an excellent example of something that could be reworked and revamped into FFXIV for the Company system. FoV is another example of something that they should look at when looking at the Guildleve system.
that is a dangerous comment Alexia....
Only because it is a good idea that is now in peoples heads and when Companies don't add up to that, when companies amount to new sidequests only with a Garlean theme, people are going to be in a n uproar
I don't think anyone is against some things being brought over or similar to other MMO's. But I have seen quite a few posts that want WAY too many things to be just directly copied over, with no improvement. And a few threads that want everything to be copied over. People that want auto attack back and stamina removed instead of hoping stamina regen gets increased, basic attacks become more unique, and a haste spell gets added. people that want to completely abolish battle regimen and return skill chains and magic burst instead of improving it in terms of damage potential, effects, and ease of utilization. people that want the armory system scrapped instead of tweaking, adjusting, and adding skills/spells that make the class clearly different from the other. People that want job/subjob back, changed by moogles in a mog house of course. People that want the Market wards totally scrapped and have an AH instead because its been there and done that.Exactly I don't really see anyone asking for a direct clone but asking for ideas and system from FFXI that worked and worked well to be looked at and then made even better for FFXIV.

One of the MAJOR things that screams 'I just want a copy' is people asking for the /sea all classname command back. I mean COME ON! this is an age where there are GUI's that take care of commands like that, and they want to freakin type it out over and over... at least ask for a GUI that does that and not some damn text command...... *Ahem*
What would be way better for this game if they build on what they had and make the necessary modifications.
Considering that I hated what little I played of FFXI, I really don't want FFXIV to take too much from it.
Which is why I stopped playing Rift after about a month and a half.
I agree with Reika for the most part, except about the AH. Seriously, Market Wards function as a crappier version of it in every possible way, at this point, so they might as well cut their losses and put in a system that doesn't reek of donkey crap. (But keep the retainers -- I like them.) Also, a search GUI would be ideal, but a text search command is better than no search command at all. I figure that's a bit more in the line of, "Could we get a way to find people please?" rather than going, "OMG MAKE THIS FFXI RIGHT NOW!" I also want chocobos, but only because I'm getting sick of running everywhere; that doesn't necessarily mean I want a FFXI clone.
I wonder -- do the Japanese forums have this level of trolling and incessant whining on it?
