I call it The Gates of the Twelve. Basically use /praying on the 12 stones located in ARR. Each acting like gateway to 1.0 location thats locked in its own region where the 1.23b praying stones were first located. Each section is locked out so it fits in ARR map size style. Basically farm 1.0 beastmen currency in these zones and spend them at beastmen tribe locations to buy items that you cant with gil.
They changed dynamis in FFXI to almost this. You enter dynamis at the same places you did however its no longer instanced for your group its open world any amount of players or groups can enter at once with dynamis trash mobs that respawn every 5 min or so that you fight them for currency and af2. However what this lead to was a lot of fighting over camps and people trying to run each other out overall a ton of rudeness toward eachother because people wanted to get the most currency as fast as they could when everyone if fighting over a few prime camps it just doesn't work.

Still has 24hr lockouts and zone size cant compare to 1.0. Either way if there is a location with easy mobs or large number of them they will contune to farm there. I made up a system were is you build up your drop rate/bonus item obtain by doing Fates/mob killing then can change jobs to like DoL and farm a special item in the gathering list. Once you obtain the item the drop rate and option to gather x item is reset. There really isnt a kickout feature in my version of 1.0 dynamis. Just the bonuses get reset.

Will see 2.0 lose alot of subs in the shortrun and devs dont want to say sub numbers until china gets the game so they can say its high again.
As much as you might disagree, the community is not a hive mind that speaks as one. You act like if only square listened we had a godly game. Guess what, they did listen during ARR about a couple points where people still complain about. It's not nearly as easy as you make it out to be.

For many players the stamina/fatigue system made them leave, some stuck around and some new players joined. What we ended up with near the end was 1.23. 1.23 honestly was the brightest part of the game. The community (same server of Balmung) was great even if it only had 3000 people on at primetime (NA/EU/JP). Artifact Gear required a party, Cutter's Cry and Aurum's Vale were actually very tough dungeons, weaponskills actually felt weighted and were nice to look at something we no longer have with the spam abilities, Hamlet was content that included DoH and DoL and despite at the time was horrible it really was unique and is something the game needs desperately, materia melds actually mattered and were bragging rights..you felt strong when you had those triple or quad melds (penta melds just didn't happen aside from the tier 1 materia spam for the crown), and an economy that included everything and everyone. Materials mattered in 1.23 and weren't so readily available, minigames kept bots from being able to farm things at 100% and flood the markets like we have now. Leves in 1.0 actually GAVE the crafted the materials and the shards to make the items and then turned around and gave rewards like diremite and flax...yet you check the market and people were buying the items because they were actually useful. Didn't mean to make this about the economy but man..

Yes we had low drop rates for Darklight gear but that was because we were stuck with the content while they made 2.0, something that many of us (myself included) thought was going to be a revamped 1.23 without the animation lock. No one wants a 1% drop rate so people need to stop with that BS, what people want are more reasons to do content with friends/associates/randoms and that means allowing RNG to be a factor..which it is in Labyrinth of the Ancients. Yes grinding is a pain but that feeling of when you get the drop you want makes everything feel better.

As for us 1.0 players, the Calamity came and we knew the game would change. But we didn't know it would change so much, especially since we lost "content" i.e. Hamlet, Chocobo Caravan, Battle Faction Leves, a real economy. So yeah call us entitled or whatever you want, tell us to leave and "go back to FFXI," a game which many left for FFXIV because it changed so much. But realize many of us were here before Dalamud and that many of us are going to be here when others have hopped ship. Eorzea is a second home and without feedback the furniture would just sit and get dusty, there's a reason these threads are popping up and it's not just a forum thing as you can ask players in game and get the same responses (this will be replied with "well I talked to people in game and they said they loved it".") it's just the forums are a place where players can post and hope it's being read and not being flooded out of sight with RMT gil selling shouts.

Well said everything listed is exactly how I feel.

They did release the subscription numbers:

    Yoshida:
Well, the number for daily active user count can be misleading.... The peak time for Japan and oversea countries are different, for example. But if we simply look at the number of people logging in every day, I'd say we have about 500,000 people world wide. There are people who log in once every couple of days or so, so if we include those people then the number would be higher. As for a breakdown by countries... (*looks at the PR person also in attendence*) I'm sorry, but I can't say anything about that. And besides, a producer in charge of managing a global MMORPG would usually wait until their service starts in China before mentioning any statistics (wry laugh).

Sums up pretty much everything. Why we are where we are today with ARR. http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com...758.1393403872

    1. What do you feel are currently the most significant issues with the battle system? (up to three answers)
http://static.finalfantasyxiv.com/to...e5b044a5b8020- So what has changed? Nothing. ARR you now spam abilities based on tp and gcd.

    3. How frequently would you like to engage in party-based play?
http://static.finalfantasyxiv.com/to...3d2d9d78d69f0- Seemed a mix of solo play and party based answers but then states that Japan in particular has a strong showing of players who prefer rolling solo. (Yoshi) I imagine for many people it might go something like this: real life obligations at school or work → can't play for prolonged periods of time → log into a game with mostly party-based content → spend time looking for a party → end up losing actual game time. I'm well aware of these issues, and promise not to let vicious cycles like this dominate FFXIV's gameplay. I'm on it. ☺
Though we're revising the battle system with a focus on making it fun for parties, the solo/party orientation and recommended ranks of game content will be clearly defined, and future adjustments and additions will take all types of player lifestyles into account.- So you call duty garbage finder and FATES a solution? I don't get it.....

    5. What types of game content would you like to undertake while playing solo? (up to three answers)
http://static.finalfantasyxiv.com/to...d442e6384e6dd-- So if people enjoyed this content why were these taken away from us in ARR?

    10. If the current target claiming system were done away with, would you prefer for content such as dungeons and battle to be converted into instances as much as possible?
    * "Instances" refer to those events and areas that can only be occupied by a single party, or certain characters, at once. This serves to prevent players from competing with one another for the same enemies, for example.
http://static.finalfantasyxiv.com/to...6074756711197-- Hate to say it but now that everything is instanced and people want more open world. People did vote for more instanced content. Kinda kicked ourselves in the ass on this one :/ Or it was taken way out of context.

Honestly more, varied forms of content. Right now this game is basically revolving around instances while the open world rots. We don't even have a living world, everything is just being reduced to a lobby server while people wait for instance ques. I would love a crafting system that meant something with a working supply chain with people needing others, and the current system eliminates that because now one person can do everything within a short amount of time and leves. This game had a touch of that when the servers first came up but that went away too quickly as people figured out how to max a DoH/DoL job in as short of time as possible, leading to a glut of maxed out people as well as an influx of materials/crafts, driving down the market for said effort.

What i truly want, I'm not even sure its possible to do with the current state of gaming and gamers, I want a world I could truly escape in, and everything seems to be going in the opposite direction. Accomplishments are being phased out for content that can be done with as little effort and time as possible because people are playing something they have no real reason too and developers are catering to them just because there is more to them and that's understandable to a point, they do need to make money and I'm am not going to fault them for that but when everything gets turned around in the seeking of that mighty dollar it irks me to no end. It's coming to the point that I'm not even really tracking what the big companies are doing outside of a few exceptions, instead paying attention to what the small companies and indie developers because most of them are putting something out that they truly have a love for instead of seeking to make the most money out of as little effort as possible.

Couldn't agree more with the OP.I would add having a good pvp(and not the joke we have ATM) would help A LOT.In MMOs,people will always want to challenge the others,PVP is a good way to kee pthem on the game.Unfortunately it sucks so hard ATM that many people don't even touch at it.Im' not a pvp player but sometimes i like to play a little to it and it's one of the activities who would really need a FC.There is also 0 interactivity with the others players and especially the FCs.It's really too bad, everyone is in their own world and don't give a damn about the others because there is no need to.Really sad for a MMO.

Agreed Beetle I just remember doing that specific poll a few years back when devs cared what feedback people had. I do not recall however the majority wanting more instanced type content until I looked at the overwhelming number. I can't help to think they didn't mean sit and que for a lobby instance that we have now. But I don't know what people wanted back then... I know personally I wanted 2.0 to be better than 1.0-1.23 ever was and that is exactly the way the dev/Yoshi made it sound. But that is not how it turned out.

Changed was needed but they changed everything and not everything was for the better. I still sub today like I did back in 1.0 awful launch to a nice foundation in 1.23 SE said they were going to build from not scrap everything. I tried ARR for a few weeks, I didn't complain about lack of content because honestly there is a lot more people that have played and gotten further than I have in ARR. I guess my biggest let down was after 2 years waiting, finally getting to play again the shiny new world lost its magic real quick. Even when I log in now most of the friends I started with in ARR from 1.0 and even new friends I made in ARR don't even log in anymore. The fetch quests, the gear hands outs, lack of feeling immersed in the world drove me less and less to log in. I can go on and on about cons and pros but my point is I do not like the direction they are taking the game. Can it change at this point? I don't know. Yoshi seems to have his mind set on his Candyland theme park. This isn't the same Yoshi-P from 1.0 that reached out to the players.
