    If you set the system to a 1% chance @ rare drop with unlimited tries, new people and people with a lower play time will have an even greater disadvantage, statically. The way this game will progress is that with every other patch or so the iLVL cap is going to go up, and the tier below will become a free-for-all.

    i.e. in patch 2.2, Coil 1-5 is going to be spamable, as well as the myth cap going bye-bye. That means that a new player can start the day of 2.2, get to 50 by the end of the week, and a week later have full i90 by either spamming Coil or spamming Haukke HM. It is extremely easy to catch up with a token system.

    Now, if the Myth cap stayed as restrictive as it is while at the same time new gear tiers with similar or more restrictive caps were introduced, THEN it would detrimental to new players.

    Also, what is stopping you from running stuff with people you know? Duty Roulette? You either value your free 50 myth per day, or you value running a dungeon with your buddies. If you are hard-core its not like you need to use Roulette to cap myth anyways.

    Also: This IS the middle ground. You can get easy-peasy full i90 set in like, 5 months, or you can do Coil and get 10-15% chances of getting loot every week as well to get geared faster. This is the combination of those two things.

    Yoshi's whole idea is to not have a gap between casuals and hardcores. With token systems if a casual misses a week or don't cap (Hence being casual) they will always have to play catch up. Having to wait 3-6 months until they remove cap so people can catch up is the same thing as having a gap between someone who can farm and someone who can't. If someone invests more time into something why is it that they can't be rewarded? Gaming is some people's hobbies, usually when you spend a lot of time with a hobby you have something to show for it. Why is it expected to be any different here?

    When I spoke about running things I meant coil, since that's where the problem seems to come in and you can't duty roulette with people, it's a solo thing.
