    I certainly hope it's not single and AoE versions of every single spell, that would be hell on the action bar. Possibly now everything will either AoE or not, just like skills. Unfortunately this takes away control over such things, and yet people really wanted this.

    Personally I love having some spells AOE and othere single target! A more challenging role (or JOB) for a healer/nuker?? Yes, please.

    The fact that we'd be pressing "3" instead of "z" to AoE = more challenging? BS.

    And don't even bring up MP/hate regulation, it's a totally different topic.

    All of the toggle haters fail to realize that the "-aga" system from XI is the same exact thing as toggle, only less intuitive, and more damaging to the options that we have as mage classes. Namely because the fact that we'd be forced to equip TWO spells that do the SAME exact thing. How is that logical?

    I would like to see a good argument against toggle that doesn't lean on the crutch of "IS 2 EASY THX TO MP CAWST". And if your argument is that you're accidentally AoEing all of the time, then learn to pay more attention to what you're doing. It takes ONE flippin' button press to switch AoE on and off. If you can't manage that, please reconsider your class.

    Wow, one of the few decent things in game and they plan to remove it. They could at least rework it to default on or off like someone else said and streamline it so you wouldn't have to confirm every spell. This game doesn't need more clutter with a 2nd spell for aoe to match every single target spell. Even being allowed to equip more spells doesn't solve the problem, just makes it more annoying than the current system.

    I just want to say that it's a great decision to get rid of AOE toggle all together. I'm hoping this will help give healers an actual role rather than spamming aoe cures and sacrifices. And the way things are now there is no setback for setting any spell to AOE other than accidentally hitting an enemy that you weren't targeting, which I feel has been kind of cheating.

    What will the Healer's new role be? Equip AoE heal and spam that, maybe occasionally using a (potentially stronger) single target heal? That sure does put gameplay on a whole new level.....-_-

    Again, this has NOTHING to do with the toggle. What you're referring to are Hate/MP management balancing.

    I have nothing against making MP costs higher, damage spread lower, and Hate higher as a consequence for using AoE, but that has NOTHING to do with the MECHANIC of pressing Z to toggle between AoE and single target.

    This entire thread is full of posts acting like the TOGGLE is what eliminates consequence when using AoE spells. It's not the mechanic, it's everything else that is the problem with AoE.

    AoE toggle is one of the few mechanics that is a step forward for this game, and MMOs in general, and I will be really disappointed if the changes that Byohne mentioned include reverting back to a XI style of duplicating all of our spells.

    I hated almost everything about XI except for the FF cannon. So no, I am not a masochistic XI player. It makes sense to have different types of spells with different properties and functions rather than just make a blanket copy of each and hope it works.

    Removing the AOE toggle is a huge step in the right direction towards making casters (and the UI) more efficient. Thank you SE!
