I foolishly upped my sub by 180 days one day before they released the initial housing prices.

    I have 100 days remaining.

If I cancel my sub now, I don't keep those days, they continue to tick down. So I can't cancel now and maybe come back later with sub time remaining.

I'm 90% certain that when my 100 days run out, that will be it for me. If I had waited just one day, my sub would have been canceled after housing prices were shown.

It's hard to say how long other players will stay subscribed to FFXIV because as the game changes, so will the sub rate.

For myself, the game has become something that I don't recognize and has, in my opinion, devolved into a "copy what works" cash grab.

While I enjoy 2.0's story it's not something I feel I need to experience for myself, unlike with 1.0 where I was very involved with what was happening around my character while playing through the game. There just isn't that drive to know what happens next as soon as possible, nor is there any mystery as to what will happen next (I pretty much guessed 100% where 2.0's story was going at the beginning of the game, it was that transparent *sigh*).

The journey, that is, the experience, is also lacking for me. Every little thing done in 1.0 gave you another piece of the puzzle to the world of Eorzea. The opening sequence drew me in; I wanted to know more about the mysterious voice singing a line of "Answers" and why it seemed to be more than just a song used to create an air of mystery around the land you walk upon. Your character is intimately aware that there is a presence with them, though they cannot see it. You meet others who claim to know all about the power you posses known as the "Echo" and claim that it has limitations around it, with short visions of past events, yet constantly your ability seems to be something more as it throws you 5-10 years into the past the first time it makes itself known. There were even times the Echo allowed you to interact with the future, and one time where you flat out use it to change the events of the past.

Characters held more depth, Van Darnus was awesome leading you to believe the "Black Wolf" would be equally as great. You were given insight (through use of the echo) into the moral struggles of the Black Wolf while facing down the White Raven. Even minor characters and characters that were killed off after a short time in the story all had a personality to them with great depth.

Like I said, every little thing drew me in to FFXIV back in the day... now, I just don't "feel" it. There is something that is missing, and personally, I believe it is because FFXIV has sold out as a game to the mainstream, where everything is "the same" and events happen in quick succession with no time allowed for depth to take hold and draw the player in completely.

This turned into a bit more than I had intended... but as for my subscription, I can't justify renewing it, even as a Legacy player.

There is simply too much missing from this game for me, and a simple "pay once and have fun" game like Dark Souls 2 will honestly keep me more entertained than this game will in it's current form.

To say I am disappointed with the game after waiting 3 years would be to make light of how I really feel at this point. When I look at it from a time standpoint, and looking back at what I left for FFXIV, I can't help getting seriously depressed. =\

When I was browsing for an FC on Balmung back during early access, I was very picky about where I applied to. I eventually joined one that claimed to have strong family values, where we all grow together, or not at all. The FC lived up to it's billing, and I've made some great friends since then. And I think it's because of this tight knit group that no one has quit in months. We lost lots of people in the beginning (people who quit without ever subbing), but to my knowledge, only one since then - and he'll be back for 2.2.

We have a core group of about 20 people who log on daily, maybe about 30 in total counting our more limited players. We don't do things together as an FC every day, but we sure as hell shoot the shit every day, be it on mumble or in FC chat. There's never a dull moment for me in game because of the great friends I've made. As long as they keep on subbing, I will too.

I subbed for 6 months at launch, but once the big lag issues hit I unsubbed. My latency is a bit better, but now I'm bored with content and still disappointed in the lack of any improvement to gameplay responsiveness. My alt jobs feel pretty wasted with how lockouts work...there is barely a reason to myth cap with my raiding job being complete. Coil is sad, and takes 30 minutes to do 1-4 (Granted, I haven't beaten Twin; there is general apathy in my group for the raid.) My sub is up soon; I might resub for 2.2, but I will do it in one month intervals this time. It's hard to make any statements when the company already has half a year's worth of your cash. I always thought this game had potential, but at somepoint potential should probably become actualization.

I wait the 2.2 if nothing change (monday game etc ) i will leave playing solo game or something else, because if the game was free i would be ok playing only one day and clean everything, but i pay 11 € for one day per week, because of the lack of content...

I have done my cap, primal extrem, and bahamuth monday with 3 hours of playing. I don't think i rush.

I have 2 month subs left.

As a legacy player the sub cost for 6 months is extremely low so I don't plan to unsub any time soon. I feel like I can play other games without feeling guilty since I make more money in 30 seconds than it costs me to play this per day.

Got 6 months at launch, only really enjoyed about 2 months after launch and about a month and a half after 2.1, the rest was just content grinding or really nothing else to do. Only subbing for 1 month the very first day 2.2 hits since my sub ends a week before it'll most likely release, then we'll see. The only thing that would have made me consider a bigger sub again was Musketeer but that looks like it won't be happening anytime in the near feature. Thanks for reading my forum blog post.

At the begining of the game people usualy tell me.

You rush the game dude, what they meaning by this, doing my cap was rushing the game for them, they was casual so i understand them very well, but later when they was like me, they doing the same has me, so fast cap, so fast bahamuth, yes now the casual friend i get was experienced, and they see clear on it, they can do all the content in one or two day, i mean people who work and play only a little, and my casual friend tell me they have nothing to do too.

So this is funny to see the people who allway try to find excuse, you rush the game, with your stuff this is normal you can do all in three hours, so i must be sorry to play well the game and do the thing good ? Sure if i wipe everyday and play bad, the game got a better life duration, but this is a false life duration, if you play good, never wipe, all are fast. So now i meet no people who can't cap every week, a friend of me who was at work all the week, come sunday and done 450 myth in 2 hours, while dungeon, he is a awesome casual. So people who are happy to have nothing to do, i can't understand them, what they do, they throw the content away every update, nice for people like me who have farm 6 month for be how i am, the truth is if i joined the game in 2.2 i would be like i am in one week, yep because all the invisible barrier who block me, cap, bahamuth only one time per week, one loot per week CT. All this thing gone. And for another token cap, and another dungeon. This is a an infinite spiral, and how find the motivation to do again all those thing, to be sure all the content i do in 2.2 will be throw away in 2.3 ? Aren't be better i play the game in version 3.2 and i can do with no limit all the content before and join my friend back in like one week, when they took them 1 year to be full stuff. That realy what i think. I hope you have understand everything i wanted to say

Personally, I only do a 30 day sub, because I often get bored before the sub expires. In other mmorpgs, I can play continuously for months; the only reason I go on break is when exams or other rl stuff comes around (Not so much boredom, I mean, I still play XI, been recurring since October I believe). I can only speak for myself, but I did notice (Upon my 4ish month hiatus) that a great deal of individuals whom I played with were M.I.A. XIV just feels like an offline game imo, in terms of replay value that is ( get bored after a a week or two, come back a couple months and so on). I am getting bored of XI though, but with the delve/job system content coming up, I might stick around. Hopefully 2.2 draws me in XIV; but this game has lost my interest after beta (I guess it was just something new that appealed to me). XI is not perfect, but imo, they do a good job of prolonging old washed up content, lol (The bst adjustments were awesome).
