How long are players staying subbed?

My six month is getting close to expiring and I'll be renewing it for the same amount of time.

The advice to focus on the players who are staying is sound, but I will pair it by saying take these forums with a hefty chunk of salt. I've noticed a very stark contrast between the negativity sounding on these boards and the experiences of people actually playing in game.

From my observations the trick really seems to be who's involved with the community or their other fellow players, and who's just playing to finish content, which will be a dividing line between players for as long as MMOs remain.

Speaking only for myself I am ok with the ease of access to things because it enables to me to work for my own goals and assist others without harming my own goals. It allows me to engage into the community and play at my own pace without falling too far behind. I'm here for the long haul because of that.

This typical in every MMO. Everyone finished content then drop sub and play something else until new patch or expansion. Since ESO is coming out doesn't come as surprised that numbers are dropping.

yes, every generic mmo that ffxiv is a copy from does. Thats why i have no clue why they went that way without adding any other incentives....

I recently reduced my sub to 1 char per server and 1 month renew. (from 3 month, 8 char)
I dislike the way crafting has gone and I show it with my poket.
I like the game but it can be better, in fact it has been better with crafting in mind.

I've cancelled auto renewal awhile ago but had the big sub so its taking forever. I'm going to take a break from MMOs for awhile since no modern mmo seems to be what I consider an mmo. I check these forums while at work for news, updates, and reactions to the news and updates. Back to enjoying the "glory" days of gaming and have rebeaten persona's 3 and 4. This game had potential but I don't think its going to be anything special.

I've cancelled my auto renewal and my sub is coming to an end soon but I won't be re-subbing. There are a lot of good things I love about arr but like someone else said unless I start seeing something besides more turns or primals then the sub isn't worth it. When they start adding in some real world content that doesn't revolve around FATES and other things to keep me busy outside of boss fights I'll think about coming back.

I stayed subbed from the launch in August til the first or so of this month. But I'm on a break now. Partly because of school, and partly because I honestly felt that lately I just logged in to cap myth and grab a treasure map. I leveled 5 battle classes to 50, leveled all 3 gathering classes to 50, and even 2 crafting classes...so I feel like I'm sampled quite a bit in term of leveling. I'm not much for a weekly raiding schedule, so in terms of content, I felt as though as I had sort of reached the end of what I had wanted.

I -will- be resubscribing for 2.2...but I wonder how long I'll last after that. If I feel like grinding a new tome and grinding myth, I suppose.

I'm on the 3 month renewal with the extra payment to have a bajillion alts (I like spending time with different people on different servers and roleplay/have fun with multiple characters on my home server.) I'm in the "the game is what you make it" camp.

I had a couple people join my FC a few months back, do everything/power level for a month, and then quit. I guess that's the way to get the most out of your money? O.o I'm not sure; it seems strange to me. With these types, there's not much you can do.

For some others that have quit, it is for real life reasons like the start of a difficult, new semester in college or work schedule changed.

I have also dealt with a couple people quitting (at least until the next patch) because they are not interested in "endgame" and that is all there is to do anymore.

Lastly, I have had some FC members create an alt on a more populated server or one that better matches their personal schedule and then make the alt their main. So, they haven't quit at all but they are inactive on our server.
