Interesting FFXII-FFXIV similarities [Lore]

The only similarity with 3 is CT and the 'Hero of Light'-gear, afaik. Maybe I missed something, but I see them more like nods to different FF's for fanservice's sake.
As for other FF installments, I haven't really seen that much similarities. But then again, I might have missed some things. Feel free to enlighten me
As far as I am concerned, I would be pretty disappointed if SE just re-used some parts of another FF's mythology for their 'main-story' just because they like re-using stuff...

They specifically linked Allagan lore into the CT. Some of this Allagan lore is directly taken from FFIII. So it is more than just similarities. For instance the team that yourself and Cid are a part of is called Noah. They even say this is because of the Allagan Great Magus called Noah. In FF3 the tower and Xande are both related to this Great Magus. This, as the notes above about Lahabrea, are more than just similarities. It's combined lore. So yes, this game has strong lore coming from other games than just FFXII and this supports the notion that it's just another FF game reusing content from previous games. To what end we do not know, but this much is certain.

You know? I always thought of FFXIV as a online upgraded version of FFXII...

That's funny, because I always thought XII was an offline solo version of XI.

FFXIV: ARR was always introduced as a fan service for FF fans. so expect similarities from all FF titles.

Perhaps XII and XIV are not necessarily the same world but are connected similarly to the Worlds of Light and Darkness in FF III?

Stay with me here, at the end of III, the Warriors of Light's world (that of Luneth, Refia, etc.) from the World of Light joins forces with the (freed from the dark crystals) Warriors of Darkness, who are implied to have come from a world of darkness, in order to defeat Cloud of Darkness.

Now, Lahabrea in XIV is considered a Scion of Light according to the op's linked article and Mateus is listed as a Scion of Darkness. However, I don't think XIV actually references Mateus directly, perhaps implying that he does not exist in Eorzea (which doesn't necessarily mean he does not exist in the lore).

It may very well be that the Scions of Light and Darkness, like in III, are actually split across the void between the worlds of XII and XIV. Why they would want to reach one another, and if this implies further connections to III, who knows =P

Somehow they are my favorite design, don't you agree? It would be awesome to have them as playable race in XIV, but sadly won't be possible since they already decided to use the similar of XIII.

Akihiko Yoshida (best designer in Square-Enix with no doubts) is the art director both for FFXII and XIV, similarities are obvious.

I think he still works on it (how much I'm not sure). I believe they mentioned it somewhere a while back.

There's a whole new BD game he is working on so it's safe to assume his involvement with arr at this point in time isn't that big. (Just draw us those male vieras dude and we'll be ok!)
