    I just want to add that this map, is not Aion`s map, but just one of its starting regions, there are 6 other maps equally if bigger in the game.

    And for those saying FFXIV world is big, you have to be joking or trolling, if anything in this game dissapoints is how small the regions and map is, and how exploration doesn`t even exist. (just arriving to a region and getting an archivement for that is not exploration). Coming MMORPG with really big maps. Like Aion, GW2, RuneScape, WoW, EverQuest... God EverQuest maps is just hundreds of times bigger than all the maps of FFXIV including instances together.

    FFXIV world just saves himself because is beautifully crafted and weather, care for details and immersion is deep, so, even if you don`t have much to travel or much to explore, you at least can see lots of nice details, but is not enough.

    Regions should have to be, imo, twice their actual size and there we are talking. Not even to mention to have more exploration, paths, things like GW2s jumping puzzles, things to do and to look for, not the outrageous ammount of instances, warps and invisible walls. With their size, if the regions were seamless, the map would feel at least, a bit bigger, add a few open world dungeons. And there you are starting to have a proper MMORPG world.

I think maybe this is main reason is because they didnt planed to give us eany Open World content in the game....the entire concept at the moment is to get everething in the DN ( Stones, Armors etc.. ), we have dns, Primals...again in a dns.....Coil again in a dn...! You sit in one place to go in dn.... ! Sorry but this is the reality of the game at this moment, if DN servesr go dowen like couple a days ago you have nothing to do !!!

    2. Or maybe the servers or the game engine is something really really wrong with them.

    I have to think you simply have never played Rift or WoW or Aion.

    SE obviously tried making large expansive zones, and while they were nice for atmosphere, they felt dead and empty (though that's how a desert like Thanalan should feel I suppose). The zones they created for 2.0 are beautiful, distinct, and well crafted. They're efficient and I suppose that's bad for some people. It certainly is not like the real world in that manner, but personally I wouldn't want it to be. I'm quite happy with zones that take a couple minutes to traverse while mounted that have varied and worthwhile scenery. It would be much more costly to create larger zones that maintained the same level of detail and variation. My personal opinion is that I'd prefer they spend time on almost anything other than making exceptionally large zones unless there's a very good (gameplay oriented) reason for them to be so big. Simply taking a longer time to traverse is not a good gameplay reason. That said, I hope that they do increase the size of the world through new zones, as they're certain to do.

    Have you ever played WoW? I'd say no. Barrens alone was bigger than Coerthas and Southern Thanalan put together, and that's just one zone, not to mention all the other continents with their huge zones. Also, no loading screens or invisible walls were present.

    I wish they would add larger maps to FFXIV, and remove invisible walls. If I want to jump somewhere or die, or climb a mountain I see in a distance, I want to be able to do it.
