New Servers upon PS4 release?

I've been waiting for the PS4 release of this game for awhile now and was wondering if there was any information regarding whether or not new servers will be opened to accompany its release.

I love the beta, and as a brand new player I'd ideally like to play on a new server where I'm starting at the same level as everyone else.

I don't see why they wouldn't, although I guess it would come down to population on the existing servers - a lot of PS4 version players will actually be transferring from the PS3 version though so will be existing players who already have characters in the game. Having said though, the PS3/PC version launch had pre-existing characters transferring in to the game (from version 1.0 and Phase 4 of the PS3/PC Beta) and SE added new servers for new players so it is definitely possible.

In any event SE will post information about it on the Lodestone closer to launch of the PS4 version, so it will probably be a while before anything is known for sure.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the PS4 servers are separate datacenters from the actual full game. I'm sure you will be able to change worlds on the official game.

And im pretty sure you will start over. i don't think the beta character is going to carry over.

Like Enkidoh is saying it indeed depends on how much the PS4 release will influence the populations on the existing servers.

I too expect the majority of PS4 players to be PS3 converts, aside from that, if the stories are correct some of the non-legacy worlds have a rather low population at the moment so they might try to funnel the new players there first.

I think they might add a few...but I don't think there would be a huge amount. As the other poster said there are going to be alot of PS3 players like me just switching over...don't know how many "NEW, NEW" players there will be.

If we ever make a mistake is it possible to transfer servers?

Server transfer is possible for a fee. It depends on how many new players PS4 brings in, but I doubt they'll add new servers when they just now feel like they've balanced the economies of legacy and launch servers and some newer servers have a very low population (from what I've read).

If they would add new servers it would be interesting to see how long it would take the players on that server to get up to speed with content though (and read about their struggles with Titan hard all over again). I guess it would be a big disadvantage to play on a server like that.

Phase 1 you are correct but not phase 2

Phase 2 beta test is going to be in public servers. Players will be able to create new characters or use existing characters.
Furthermore the new created characters will carry to official release.

During beta test phase 2, players have the option to participate using pre-existing characters from the Windows and PlayStation®3 versions. Furthermore, testing will be conducted on public Worlds. All newly created characters can be created on a data center and World of your choosing, and will carry over to official service after the beta test has concluded.

Yes phase 2 of beta that character can be used on the final game release like Thaliss said
Also the PS4 will not have it's own dedicated servers, at least no plans on doing so as of now
