Actually, no they wouldn't. A Gladiator has to have a Sword equipped to be a Gladiator, it doesn't have to have a shield equipped. So if they added those two-handed swords to Gladiator, the player would just have to choose if using a two-handed sword would be worth the loss of the shield skills.

I wish they would separate shield skills from Gladiator and do an own sub-class for them again like in 1.0 before they removed the shield subclass Sentinel.
So that not only Gladiator can use the shield skills, but every class who can put on a shield and with it the subclass Sentinel.
Or at least give CNJ and THM their own shield skills.
