    I do not mind the color of the new marker, but I hate the pulsing that is not connected to anything.

    The pulsing is likely to catch your eye. See my comment a few posts above to understand how it helps those that don't have normal color vision. Humans are more likely to notice movement (the pulsing) over a color scheme anyway.
