How about some combination of the above? Your retainer still maintains your house with the moogle visiting often. When you log in, instead of your retainer greeting you, you get something like this...
Retainer: "Thank Azeyma you're here. That moogle just keeps spinning. Did you break it?"
Retainer: "I refuse to clean up the mess that thing makes once it stops twirling."
Retainer: "I think I'm getting sick watching it..."

Retainer: "I think I'm getting sick watching it..."It didn't occur to me that the retainer could be used that way. So instead of taking it away, its primary service already available could be relocated as the care-taker of the Mog House. Mogs would handle the mail as they have for the last 10+ years.
I am for mog house ! .)
MH is just the general refrence, i dont think anyone of us "Wanting" this really care if its
called "Housing" or something else...if the Moogle has been replaced or not.
We want our own personal housing / Storage area, where we can rearrange furniture,
change the hjousing decorations & place them where we like. (even if it means LS / Company Housing)
Just like in FFXI, bringing more craft-recipes around, up the economy...etc
Besides...There's more than one moogle in the game.

Good point and I've made the edit to the OPMH is just the general refrence, i dont think anyone of us "Wanting" this really care if its

I STRONGLY agree with the vast majority of what has been said in this thread. I've heard horror stories about mi'quote retainers running off with people's stuff. I have an elvaan female who has never done that, but I have always been hesitant about putting gear up on her inventory for storage. Of course, I also like to save lower level gear for when I am leveling another job because I can be very frugal like that. As you can imagine, my inventory is already half filled by gear and once I hit level 30 and buy more new gear it will threaten to consume it. SE really needs to impliment the moghouse feature. It really does.
There MUST be some way of bringing this to the developer's attention. Is there some way of sending these suggestions to the proper channels where they will be noticed?
dev Tags are the best way, but until I can locate the appropriate tag for this topic, it'll have to stay general discussion.
I should edit in the option to send in feedback from their support page, where the SE team reads all incoming traffic. Though they do not respond, it might be the most direct way of forcing your thoughts onto SE.

This probably doesn't need to be said, but I'm saying it anyway.
One word: mannequins.
