I'm sorry if you disagree (and I apologise, I missed your conversation with the OP, I was responding to a post that responded to me yesterday) but ultimately I think we have to agree to disagree. If you genuinely feel the vocal minority isn't accurate, that's totally fine, but I feel that in this case, it is. Or, at the very least, if it's not the vocal minority, the people who feel most negative will generally be the people who post. Even if they make up the same number of players as those who are happy, or more, the positive people tend to post less.

In my experience, only people who care enough about the game post on the forums. Of the people who post on here expressing their dissatisfaction and hopes for improvements there will be many more who aren't aware of the forums, don't want to subject themselves to the vitriol and bickering of gaming forums in general, or simply don't care enough to post on them. They'll just unsubscribe and proceed to tell their friends, "That game was garbage!". I know of at least four rl friends who've done this. Path of least resistance and all that.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and there are a lot of squeaky wheels here. Just look at the servers represented: there are 5 times as many non-legacy servers as legacy servers, but looking up the page, we have 28 of the last 70 posts from legacy servers. 40% of posts representing 20% of players. The selection bias isn't exactly unpredictable. That's not to say that complaints aren't valid, but all of those players who haven't finished everything already aren't going to be here on the forums defending SE from something they yet know nothing about. We are all the vocal minority, which is why the troll above pulled the bandwagon card in the first place.

That’s really too bad. I meant you no ill will. Have I been frustrated with the direction of the conversation? Sure. But I’ve stated time and time again that the intent was to come up with some ideas that were fun in game to hopefully reignite an interest in my friend who seems to have lost interest.

The point of this isn't to tell anyone "there's stuff to do you're technically incorrect", but rather to point out there are options still available you once enjoyed that gave you a reason to play in the first place.

Granted it doesn’t say, “This is not a thread to discuss what content is considered play worthy and “deep” and what is not”, but I really didn’t think it was necessary. Clearly I was wrong. In hindsight, I would’ve changed my wording of couple things, such as “content locust”. I previously stated that “complesionist” would’ve been more appropriate, but also admitted I hadn’t heard the term before the creation of this thread. I apologized previously for that and will do it again, I’m sorry to anyone that offended.

I wish you well. Aside from your demonstrative inability to comprehend this particular subject matter, you seem pretty bright. I hope you stick around and continue to contribute to this forum in a positive fashion. I’m sure this thread isn’t reflective of your ability to contribute.

In addition, I’m sure you would be equally frustrated if you created a thread about “where to obtain chocobo bardings” and crapton of people said in your thread “barding are useless!!!”

Touche. I’m sorry. I’ve tried my best. I think I’ve done a pretty good job. I haven’t seen many people even attempt to internally regulate their own threads very much in this forum. Most threads go off topic and derail 2 maybe 3 pages in. I hope you’ll give me credit for the attempt at least.

This is one I’ve really been trying to get to. What an excellent post. And thank you so much TrystWildkey for explaining your own points of views relative to that of my own problem in game.

See that’s the thing. It IS telling. But imo, not exactly how you think. Those menial tasks of crafting half a day for someone, helping someone get their brayflox armor set, etc seemed to be the highlight of most of their playtime early on.

If my friend was completely happy with “watching the tide come in” while standing in lominsa, I would suggest going in open world to enjoy some scenery. But it went from, “we need to take care of everyone’s business, not our own” to “I just want to cap myths”…..?!?!?

I think there were some problems irl that affected his mentality. I never really wanted to bring that up because:

1) It leaves the impression that people who play a lot have no life, etc. Something I REALLY wanted to avoid due to the insulting nature, whether it’s true or not.
2) It would’ve COMPLETELY derailed my thread more than it already has…believe it or not.
3) It’s just presumptuous. Discussing problems in real life would’ve been my last resort.
4) I could’ve been completely wrong, he could’ve just been bored, and mentioning this could’ve been offensive.

However, as I mentioned earlier he’s been playing A LOT more these past few days. His spark seems to be reignited and was helping some of us farm ultima last night. Was really good to see.

In addition, I’ve found some other things to do I haven’t considered (thanks to those of you remaining on topic):

1) Treasure maps. I’ve done a couple, but haven’t realized there is some extremely rare loot you can obtain from them. Someone mentioned blue fox hides…anything else for us “crafter minded” people?

2) Achievements. I know there’s a “fat chocobo” and a “gold magitek”…are these obtainable through achievements or other means? I did get some sort of crown through achievements and a gc specific minion. Can someone tell me what else you can get? Or at least provide a link? Thanks in advance.

3) There seems to be some new items on the marketboard. Anyone else noticed this? Is there a place we can go to find those recipes?

4) Obtaining company credits. It seems that you can obtain credits through almost anything you do. Does anyone know what seems to yield the highest return?

I'm not disagreeing, per se. Just commenting on the use of forums as a bellwether.
