Their are no zones? why do people keep saying zones. the whole world is the zone now. MMo's are trying to get away from zone loading to different areas and i like that and I hope it never changes. This is not just quoting your post its also quoting anyone who still thinks "zones" in every post.

Would also like to keep this thread alive to support the cause. This is the greatest change I have wanted to see in FFXIV. Not combat, not even crafting. I would love to see adventure and life brought back to the game world. I don't care if loading screens have to be involved, whatever it takes. Having the world be diversified similar (Or exactly) as the OP has presented it in his map would be the greatest update I could imagine.

    Hi Alhanelem,

It's true that if the game *made* you do Guildleves in, say, Coerthas or Mor Dhona, then, sure we'd get some new scenery changes, but even those areas are pretty heavily Copy & Pasted. And people have been grinding on Raptors in Coerthas since the early days, so, sadly, as much as I like Coerthas, even that scenery is already growing wearisome.

In addition, your statement above isn't true: In our current 3 Starter Regions for Gridania, LL and Ul'dah we already have Camps for up to Rank 99. (Go to "Five Hangs" in The Black Shroud and you can enjoy fighting R99 Goblin Headmen; stop by "Cactus Basin" or "Four Sisters" and say hello to Rank 79 Inferno Drakes, etc., etc.)

All 3 Starter Regions unfortunately already *have* enough Aetherytes / Camps to account for future Level Cap increases, right now, which is why Siobu and many of us here brought up this additional concern.

Now that we've gotten an Official SE Response it looks like we're getting changes regardless, so that's a great thing.

I apologize for the delay in getting a comment to you all about this. We are aware it is a hot topic in the forum, but it’s one that is difficult to provide a satisfactory comment on. Firstly, I want to bring attention to the following comment was posted by Yoshida on the Japanese forum back in March:

We brought up the concerns being presented by the community, as well as the comment made above, to Yoshida again today.

In regards to the overall direction, he said that nothing has changed and he is still dedicated and moving forward with the edit work.

Next, in regards to the main focus of this thread, that the game is just a single area filled with monsters of different levels; the necessity to revamp this has not changed and we feel stronger than ever that along with the edits, each area should have its own specific theme.

However, as stated by Yoshida in the comment before, please understand that there is a large amount of work to be done and it will take some time before we can even share the information with you. Once the new designs start to take shape, we will make it our top priority to share them with you.
Once again thank u Bayohne. Now maybe everyone in the forums can calm down a bit. All this information in such a short amount of time has been overwhelming. I so fed up with people not understanding that SE is taking all the proper measures to make this game shine like a gem. Way to go SE your doing a brilliant job. /Bravo

Woot, a crown, and nearly 100 pages of (generally) unified support! Congrats everyone, and especially Siobu for this awesome thread, our adventure is coming it seems! You're excited, I'm excited, we're ALL excited!

Great dev response, I was a bit worried but now I'm even more optimistic about the future!

Seeing that this thread is reaching 100 pages, it's understandable that many are going to now skip the majority of posts. (Even I wouldn't read a 100 page thread as a new arrival!)

I will try to summarize a little what we've discussed. The world is already divided by zoning and loading screens; we are within seams. And within these seams, we have enemies from 1-99 and one main set of scenery per zone. This is why we see them as zones instead of proper regions.

The country of Canada is not just snow. It's got many, many different types of environments. From the beaches of freshwater lakes, to the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans, to woods and forests, to mountains, to rocky terrain, and of course, frozen coastlines, snow, and ice. (And we can narrow everything even smaller than that. The province of Ontario is not just ice, but it's also not just forest. It's a multitude of different environments.)

Or, the state of New Jersey (USA)? Sandy saltwater beaches. Forests. Freshwater lakes. Woods. Farmland. Bogs. The Pine Barrens.

For such a small state, it actually has much more diversity than the 'region' Thanalan!

(Oh, I hope no one gets out the measuring tape! I always have seen MMO zones as scaled down versions of true to life places. If a zone is a 'forest,' I could imagine it as the size of one in relation to life, for example. )

And although we can alternate right now in Eorzea: woods, desert, grassy, desert, grassy, woods, rock, desert, grassy, woods, woods, grassy, rock.

It can only get even better when we have even more to enjoy: beach, desert, marshlands, snow, woods, mountains, tundra, moorland, rock, jungle, swamps, grassy, canyons.

Thanks again for stopping by, everyone!

    (Edit: Viion! So funny.)

Sadly they're just as copy-pasted as the rest of the areas. Someone posted some videos of them a while ago, but the topic was closed I believe.

Are you under the impression that FFXIV doesn't have zones, including some with loading screens between them? Because if you are, you'd be wrong.
