Hokay. I'm going to snip out the parts that are completely unrelated to the topic at hand or patronizing assumptions.

Let me ask you this, Have you ever taken time to really REALLY look at the game's overworld maps?

If you did you would see that there infact exists MANY other zones AND cities, and coincidentally they are liken to FFXI's environment: There's a Ice place like Xarcabard, there's a tropical jungle with a Volcano like Khazam, there's a beach/peninsula type place like Mhaura. That's only to name a few.

My point is: This is a common thing amongst players in the game. FEW of them know the Lore and hidden secrets of Eorzea because they haven't taken the time to even READ the ingame tomes OR even external maps the game shipped with!

So naturally, you say to yourselves: Well it's not there on a plate with big blinking lights pointing it out for me so therefore it doesn't exist.

    <non sequitur>

In closing: There is A LOT more to this game than most people know. All it requires is EXPLORING the Guilds and landscape to figure this out.

    <non sequitur>

    Good Luck adventuring in Eorzea
Okay, I guess I left the patronizing assumptions in. But basically you argue that a) nobody has ever explored Eorzea except you and b) things that aren't in the game totally exist.

Let's talk about ice fields and volcanoes. Where are they? How do you get to them? You make us out to be strawmen and say we deny their existence because they're not served to us on a plate, but our argument is a lot simpler: we deny their existence because they do not actually exist. Unless the zones are in the game, they are not in the game.

You contend that the lore is whatever shipped in the box. Well, that's nice, but my box didn't have a map in it. It had an empty book. Let's see, I flip it open to page 47 and... no icefields. Let's turn to page 24 and yep, no volcano.

The argument in this thread is that the zones are monotonous and poorly developed. This is not an argument of whether X exists, but how good X is or is not. There's no room for imaginary icefields or magical nonexist volcanoes in this discussion.

When I want a thrilling experience that only exists in my mind, I read a book.

When I want a lush virtual world, I play an MMO.

I'm glad S-E agrees with the rest of us strawmen and is revamping the map. The last thing we want is for Yoshi-P to come to us and say "1.18 introduces jumping, also the floor is lava."

(actually that would be pretty cool)

My name is a killing word.
(Seriously: "Caerith" was a forbidden name when I signed up on the forums.)

Eorzea should be a world, not a lobby.

Yea a redesign would solve a lot of those problems. Monster placement, boring repetitive environments, gameplay pacing, and the long travel times. It just has become more of a standard to have zones for monsters, and while trying something different isn't bad its just that this creates many problems within the game. I know it would require tons of work, but it will be more of a challenge to convince me that 1-50 zones are better.

What are Guildleves? I mean, I've done hundreds of them but what exactly are they?

As near as I can tell, Guildleves are basically another iteration of Assaults (FFXI: ToAU) or Campaign Ops (FFXI: WotG), but without the obvious narrative or structural framework of their predecessors.

Maybe I missed something, but from my time in the game I haven't seen anything that ties guildleves to the world, to the lore, to the story in part or in whole. I haven't found any reason to do guildleves except for their immediate reward: there's no progression, no storylines, no benefits to having completed all guildleves. (Not counting those faction leves with a tiered structure to unlock NMs, though that is at least a step in the right direction.)

Unless I'm missing something, and I'm not the type to skip cutscenes or spam enter through dialogue, here's what doesn't make sense about guildleves:
    • Weak connection to lore: the individual leves seem to exist just arbitrarily without connection to each other. If a guy needs me to supply parts for his ship, then weapons for his ship, then armor for his ship, why doesn't he ever sail? Or remember that I've made him stuff like fifty times now?
    • NPCs have no sense of importance: "kill some rabbits" and "assist in the capture of a dangerous fugitive in a sting we've been preparing for months" are equally important and can be trusted to just anyone who shows up?
    • No progression: adventurers don't build reputation, so any leve is available to anyone regardless of skill or experience.
    • No need for progression: I'll just kill the same 6 goats every day because you keep paying for it.
    • Weak connection with lore: the existence of the guildleve system is not adequately explained or justified.

    最後に3国の飛空挺移動(実MAP上を飛行するシステムではないです)はMAP大改修前になんとかします!
    パッチ1.19に間に合うよう、頑張りますので、今しばらくお待ちください!
Lastly, we’re going to do something about the 3 countries airships (They are not the type where it flies above the map) before the big fix towards the MAP! Will try our best to make it by 1.19 patch. So please wait!
What does that actually mean though? It could mean anything. As usual, we get minimal explanations.

Is this something to get excited over or not?

    From my other thread:

    Good Evening, Producer/Director Yoshida here.

Thanks for continuing the discussion on this topic.
Regarding the airship, I understand everyone has different expectations but for now want to resolve the traveling issue first and looking at cost, it wont be where it has it's own map and long time to enjoy the adventure in the skies.
I think it would be more interesting if it had events that suddenly happens and stuff.
Please think of this as something to make traveling easier for now; in time we will add more/upgrade to this (Will add effect/animation^^; ).

Regarding the anima issue, it will require adjustments to and balancing to the mount system and the 3 country air ships. (making quick changes will make it harder to add restrictions later time, not good thing to do in a MMO) I understand this is a big issue.
It will be some more time but please wait a bit more regarding mount information.

    数人の方が触れている「リーヴバランス」についてですが、1.18から改修が始まります。
    今後のコンテンツバランスも含め、かなりの長文になるので、
    今週リリースするプロデューサーレターでご報告の予定です!
The issue some are talking about "Leve Balance" repair work will start from 1.18.
I'm planning to release a producer letter this week which will be talking about future content balance (long description/text) !
EDIT: changed text color to blue on the part about airship. Most likely we'll see when airship comes in and lands, like how ship has animation when it leaves port. But for now nothing else since he wants to add fun stuff onto it before he releases it and making it hard to do later + due to cost.
