A lot of new side quests with meaningful characters, and their stories / struggles. Along the lines of Hildebrand, which so far I have enjoyed. This is Final Fantasy, give us our stories! The problem so far is not that we need necessarily larger, or more content, what we need is depth and length.
Also NMs should definitely be introduced, with very large spawn areas so its random when you come across them.

The comparison i hear regularly is that this game is going EXACTLY the way of WoW. New patch, few new dungeons, some fixes, so on and so forth.
As someone who played FFXI for years I have to say that having been doing endgame related things for a while now....I'm pretty darn bored. I log in, do my duty roulette and maybe run some Crystal tower, and then i'm out. After all, what else is there for me to do (PvE) if I don't plan on getting into PvP? Right now endgame boils down to grinding dungeons for no reason other than to get tokens for new gear.
Do you have some idea of what you actually want? how is ffxi different? oh yeah, ffxi you camp hnm for 3hrs-9 days for a 30mins window and watch ls with bot claim it, go to 3 and half hrs dynamis for no drop, that must be fun

I love duplicate threads that beat the same old question down with a stick.

I don't think there's going to be a large scale addition to the game world until the first expansion. Most of the new areas they've been adding have been instanced content. Mor Dhona was probably the biggest change through patches so far.

As far as the direction of this game is concerned, I'm pretty sure Patch 2.2 will be the last of phases until the cycle repeats going forward, until an expansion at least. 2.0 was the base content, 2.1 was catch up for Crystal Tower and added horizontal progression with Ex Primals, 2.2 will add brand new content with higher levels of gear. Going forward I think they will alternate between 2 or 3 patches before new tiers of difficulty for encounters and new levels of gear are raised. I'm pretty sure there will be plenty of things that don't involve progression though. It's a new game and it's just going to take time to implement it. Things they have planned:

    - Gold Saucer area for minigames
    - Individual Housing
    - Larger scale PvP battles
    - Chocobo Raising
    - Vanity Gear System
    - Card Game ala FF8/FF9

    And probably a lot more.

You got to really know and become friends with your group, we all helped eachother out and we felt genuinely happy when those many, many hours of efforts paid off. You learned to trust your group, and worked together to accomplish your goals.

If I had to pick one area of XIV to criticize, I'd say it's that the game relies very heavily on instanced content. Aside from running through the story with your FC and Coil, generally speaking groups are short term, quick reward. I recently ran into somebody from another server on duty finder twice in one night, and it was great fun- but now the chances of ever grouping with them again are pretty rare.

As somebody said earlier, it's not just the destination that counts. It's the journey, and the people you meet along the way.

Correct me if i'm wrong....but hadn't someone mentioned at some point "building your own airship" or something to that effect as well? Hard to separate the stuff from the devs and rumors from so long ago... @.@
