The root problem to this game is Time it takes to Level.
Its fast, its relatively painless, and then you have 5 classes at max level, on the same character, that are all locked out of loot if you get something for the other. so then its all a focus on endgame grinding

Leveling should be the first 3/4s of a game, endgame the last 1/4. They almost had it too, the pre-50 stuff is PLENTIFUL in this game but isn't utilized to its full extent except for that 1-2 dungeon runs or fates you've done for that level. If people actually had to invest a bit more time in leveling characters, i think the short tempers and impatience you see at 50 would be lessened. Too late now though, its been this way since it came out recently

What I'd like to see if SquareEnix breaking of the classic MMORPG style. We've all seen it for those of us that have played many of these MMORPG's: Raids, PvP, Dungeons, Professions, Rare Spawns and the such is something that always come back in these style of games.

I like the idea of us affecting the world and the game in general. Now, I don't have set ideas of how it could be done but here's a few things I liked from across games that even though, like many other features, some became repetitive; they we're an interesting addition to the game (some of them I didn't try but only read about how they worked).

Warhammer and it's quest that you could affect Open World PvP by doing PvE quest such as Sabotage missions.
Archeage: Build your houses and keep and defend it from invasion, sieges and monsters. Also, Sea battles that pits Ship vs Ship!
Dungeons & Dragons (Pen & Paper version): You can do anything you want, be anything you want. You can steal the local flower girl, destroy the city lights, you can build your own store and sell the best food in town or you can work for the local church and heal the wounded. But know this: break the law, you better start hoping your that good at not getting caught because there is always someone stronger and better!!

Things like this I'd like to see. Not these necessarily but a good indication of how I'd like to see breaking up the classic MMORPG style.

    Wanderer's Lament

The thing that has bothered me the most about this game is its descision to make all party content instanced content.

All of the instanced content has a timer, whcih makes sense from a logistical viewpoint, but has negative effect on party dynamics; the timer increaseses stress which makes people less tolerrant of new, or inexperienced players.

I miss open world hunting parties and other open world activities found in many other MMORpgs.

I do not feel nearly as connected to the world as I have in other MMOs.

Its been said the Adventure is not in the destination, it is in the Journey.

FFXIV focuses heavily on the destination, while neglecting the journey.

It has been my hope that there will be an increase in Open world content, if the game continues with the emphasis on intstanced content I will be too bored to justify pay the monthly fee.

The game in its current form feels less like an MMoRpg, and more like White Knight Chronicles, which did not have a monthly fee.

This. At first I enjoyed the modernization. Everything is instant; travel, dungeons, etc. After the convenience starts to wear off though you realize that because of it you miss out on some of the best parts of the game and it becomes apparent that all you're doing is qeuing for yet another instance.
Maybe the "modern" mmo just isn't for me *shrug*

Edit: Maybe that's also why I like crafting/gathering. It actually requires to go out into the world

I've been in TESO beta, it's actually fun not going from instance to instance for once!

EQ expansions were a mix of new abilities, level cap raise.. sometiems new classes or races... new content for different group sizes..quests... and in later expansions more AAs.

Some expansions included changes to stats or addition of new stats. There were also sometimes the addition of new ability mechanics and different boss mechanics.

It's great in that it has the same stickiness as other ES games (I.e. while running to a quest you find something else to do, or find a cave to explore etc. Etc.) Which is polar opposite to ARR. But yes character animations need polish.

I feel like I've gotten to the point in ARR that I've realised the game isn't for me. I think six months is long enough for a game to establish an identity and direction and I think it's going to be very fan service, instanced dungeon crawler gear grind game.

Some people like it, I personally don't. I like MMORPG where I can explore and be immersed and unfortunately this game isn't one. I'll probably stick around til 2.2 .

Im probably going to be dropping my sub honestly. Im in TESO beta too and i'm loving it. Its the EXACT opposite of ffxiv in the sense that there's incentive to explore and venture off the beaten path. I'll keep an eye on it though and see what kinds of things they add.

Some nice suggestions. From FF11,I would like to see things like dynamis, where you gotta plan more what and how to kill mobs. I also like the relic upgrade system they introduced - where you had to kill mobs of a certain type under certain weather ect. I'm personally tired of primal battles and hate doing them - spend 60 min on fight then wiping and then repeating 20 times is not my idea of fun. As for TESO the game is too much like Everquest and the animation/graphics are like you find on a Nintendo 64. It is also still very buggy - considering it coming out in 2 months - reminds me of FFXV 1.0 with regards to the number of problems.
