This is still a thing? I can't be the only one who would resub in a heartbeat if this was finally fixed. I figured I'd give SE a few months to work out the kinks, but it doesn't look like anything has improved.

I don't think its a kink, I think its a massive part of the game that can't be worked out so quickly. They probably never foresaw it testing it on their JP servers in headquarters, but real world problem like this happen. Hopefully they fix it (make client side completely) at some point within 6 months, since this game is amazing graphics and fun to play.
You're not the only one, I'm in your same situation.
Still have the game installed, waiting either for a fix to the lag or for the F2P.
The fact that a VPN can solve this and that a good chunk of players aren't affected by it clearly shows it's not SE's fault but whatever route your internet traffic takes.
Because internet traffic doesn't take the same route for everything, just like you don't take the same road to go to different places.
There's something between their ISP and SE's servers that fucks up the latency for those players.
How you conveniently forget proper animation/position synchs, client trust, netcode and its predictions... higher/lower latency is not the only possible factor.
I don't have any problem with any of that, neither does anyone on my set and I'm sure there's barely anyone that has those problems, if at all.
If it was on SE's end everyone would be affected, not just some arbitrary number of people.
While the client/server code is far from perfect and has its fair share of problems (ie: not being able to hit a moving target as melee and stuff like that), it certainly doesn't make you unable to complete the current content.

Yeah good for you that you have no lag but this is a thread for people that do. The fact that the first post has over 700 likes and the thread is also 180 pages long should tell you something. Also have a look at this search for "lag" on the forums http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/s...=17506705&pp=0I don't have any problem with any of that, neither does anyone on my set and I'm sure there's barely anyone that has those problems, if at all.

So kindly FUCK OFF.
Dude, take some fresh air will you? Care to point where exactly did I say that?Yeah good for you that you have no lag but this is a thread for people that do. Seriously, some people just refuse to reason and just want to have someone to cry and complain to, the fact that it doesn't affect everybody and it's avoidable with a VPN should tell someone with a functioning brain that it can not be on SE's end, because that wouldn't do anything, especially the VPN part.
