Haha, maybe not as far as that goes, but we can at least say that to anyone who comes into this game in the future would have us to thank for influencing this idea to the devs and getting the job done.
Yeah, but it would kind of suck for the people who already have most of their classes at R50. Still, it's definitely something the games NEEDS.
Ah but thats not to say we will be getting entirely new classes to rank up. At one point we will be able to experience everything.
The thing i just read, at least with the advanced classes is that each one we have now will only get a singular advancement and that it will be the same rank as w/e the choose class is so ex: 50GLD= 50 PLD with no leveling required. It almost makes me feel like they will just be the same class with a few extra specific skills and title over one with different set of stats and skills (mixing new with GLD ones, but more restricted on the mixing of others)
If it ends up being GLD, with the same stats, same skills, but with a couple new ones and less mixing....il be severly disappointed.
Yeah but with SEs track record on XIV, what more can you really expect? The thing i just read, at least with the advanced classes is that each one we have now will only get a singular advancement and that it will be the same rank as w/e the choose class is so ex: 50GLD= 50 PLD with no leveling required. This is exactly what it will be. They never said it was going to be anything else. A real shame, in my opinion. So much more could have been done with jobs. But hey, it is what it is and we really won't know how it will turn out until we try it. It could be really great.
I've long been in favor of a total server reset once the PS3 version is out and payment starts up.Yeah, but it would kind of suck for the people who already have most of their classes at R50. Still, it's definitely something the games NEEDS.
Face it, the game is totally broken right now with the RMT and bots running rampant and exploiting the crap out of it. The class/job changes will anger some who expected to be leveling one job but instead get stuck with one they didn't want, the upcoming class restrictions on gear will load down some players with useless items, and the elimination of physical levels will likely result in further tweaks to gear already in possession of players.
Some people are going to be outraged no matter what, so why not give them the medicine all at once? A reset needs to be done just to free this game from the baggage of its former design.
However, to compensate, all the current players should be given a prestige item that would give the equivalent of ~50 lvls (or more) of exp to divide between classes however they choose and some elite gear/weapons or Gil rewards to choose from (think FFXI mog lotto)
As we have all been playing the game for free, I feel it is a fair trade-off that would give players and especially the economy a fresh start in the new world.
But sadly, most people will be highly opposed it this and considering Yoshi's comments, there is a slim-to-none chance that this will ever happen..
Still...

I believe Nuru was referring to Classes (basic weapons) in particular, not the advanced jobs.Though I really do understand everyone's worries and agree. Still, at least with that, there'd be opportunity to properly explore the new lands for those who have all current Classes capped.
With this in mind as well, we definitely shouldn't try to refuse new players or lower ranked players the opportunity to experience a true adventure from 1 to 50. I feel that no matter how SE decides to handle the battle classes, I hope it would not influence a decision to leave the map the way it is simply because a lot of players are capped. There still needs to be a future for Eorzea. And there still needs to be a proper, working formula for map design beyond 50.![]()
You know, I'm actually fairly opposed to a data wipe but if it's something like this I probably wouldn't really mind as much...I've long been in favor of a total server reset once the PS3 version is out and payment starts up.
