It's THEIR content so they get to dictate how it can be used.
A lie, Warrage doesn't seem to be banned from here at this time, but if he was so what, it's SE's forum they get to set and enforce the rules.
YT's policy of not allowing illegal use seems fine to me.
Doesn't need proving, the point is irrelevant.
Irrelevant.
I think the point OP is making is Youtube has become an unfriendly place for people who like to record stuff from MMOs and various other video games. Of late, many accounts have been reprimanded for such use. If anything, it hurts the business for not allowing people to freely advertise their product. There is absolutely no detrimental effect by placing a video online of their game. I think you're looking too closely at the negative and not the positive. Sure, it's their game, their rules, but it's also a bit shallow and not exactly a savvy business standpoint. Upset your fans who are actively showing off your awesome game? Not a great idea. It should be encouraged! (Within reason IE--not allowing people to show off hacking, etc.)
True, but stupid.
In theory, you are not even able to cut your video before the song ends. Cutting a song before the end is an alteration.
Following the same rule, you can't do an editing showing only parts of your footage, because the music will be cut in parts, and altering it is strictly prohibited.
So, yeah, even if you are right, the results of that policy are stupid on a human level. Maybe not according to the laws, but remember that laws are made by humans, for humans. Don't make them inhuman.
According to the list of people signing the OP, LongNu was banned.
Anyway, again, yes, you are right in saying that SE can apply any rule they want on "their" forum. Still, this is not what human relations and society should work.
Applying rules and laws without any interpretation and flexibility is wrong on a human level.
Deciding whether something is illegal or not is the work of a juge, not of a private company.
We are human beings living in a society seeking for peace, progress and happiness. If something goes against those values, it needs questioning. If said thing does not have any benefit for anyone, it's not irrelevent to mention it and try to change it.
Again, you are absolutly not considering humans.
Comparing copyright policies between companies working in the same market area with the same kind of product it not irrelevant.
How many MMOs with a dedicated Western server even HAVE an official written policy about this?
How many offline games even have an official policy to allow streaming (even monetized) on youtube and other sites?
Technically a lot of game streams today are in fact illegal because the ones doing the streaming don't have explicit permission.
i actually like it the way it is because i hate gameplay videos with crappy music (and yes, if it is not the ingame music it will be crappy music!). you can use any title from the game (except answers). there should be something you like included. If you dont like the music in this game i wonder what you like in this game? :P
i don't know if i should sign this but i can ask for a different message to be sent to ease up on there rules or make it much clearer on how far we can go,
trying to edit footage of this game has been difficult because i am either risking copyright from youtube due to music or from SE if i dare to use any other music to cover up the silent parts also in some recording especially of CT i have a audio glitch where the music messes up and starts to make noise i can mute this but this will also mute my on the spot commentary plus the ways it is written also makes cutting scenes a bit trickier due to if i do have sound and cut a part the now interrupted part of music will no longer fit there guidelines >.<
if this was eased up just a touch or given a much clearer explanation on how far we can edit with the sound i would be happy
so far i have had to scarp a few good videos of this unitl i can have one perfect run (without someone wiping us in say ct) where i don't have to edit or a perfect titan HM or EX video
~draco
edit: i understand SE do own the rights to everything but i don't make a single penny of my videos and i use it to share my enjoyment and views on a game or just to have fun editing which is what i wish to have a career in soon, also i aint saying straight out they should remove these policies because people WILL abuse it i am just asking for leniency on videos that have been edited to keep the viewers enjoyment of the game up

Dear SE,
For years I have found something BEYOND annoying and extremely lame, watching YouTube Videos with good game music replaced by people's extremely horrible taste in music. It's to the point where I listen for to the audio for 2 seconds and then mute it. A video is supposed to have audio, but video game videos have become like animated GIFs, all motion and no audio.
Thank you SOOOO much for disregarding those that have ZERO taste when it comes to music, I am 100% happy with your decision to not allow that mess to happen with FFXIV. I am exceptionally happy that I can watch FFXIVARR videos online without having to mute the videos. Please continue with the banning of those that violate that rule and thank you for not allowing Answers to be used in videos, that song is too amazing to have these people ruin the song by overusing it. Those that are Legacy have a stronger connection to Answers than those that started with ARR and I don't want their lack of appreciation for it to ruin it for me.
I could not disagree with the OP more and if he gets his way, nearly all FFXIVARR videos online will be ruined by horrible tastes in music. Don't let that happen, no matter how many signatures they get, they do NOT represent true Final Fantasy fans, we fans know that FF music is 50% of the experience.

This is the thing that confuses me highly are we allowed to use music from this game to cover such edits? are these edits even allowed? if we do edit and we can't cover it are the cuts allowed? what about mr happy? his videos are edited but is that against the musics ToC?In theory, you are not even able to cut your video before the song ends.
