Your layout looks very nice Delish. And what you said makes sense, it was the same reasoning we had behind our purchase of Plot 11. We had to be in Ward 1, prices were dropping like crazy and we loved that plot. The majority of the FC wanted that plot. We didn't want to be in ward 2 (likely to be a ghost town for a while) and we wanted to enjoy the act of having a house.

I have a feeling, of which I am sure many will agree, that this will become the case most of the time when Housing purchases are to be considered. I wholeheartedly agree with some of the statements made earlier in the thread... SE needs to revisit small plots somehow and make them appealing to people. There are so many of them in each Ward and in each Housing Zone. SE obviously expects them to be purchased, but I feel like only mostly the Large and Medium plots will be purchased and the wards will remain littered with lots of open small spots.Your layout looks very nice Delish. Well... "Common" sense isn't all that common anymore, now is it?
From live letter, basement to be added to small houses, either in 2.2 or shortly after. Small houses should fit 6-8 people now.
Yeah exactly! They look like studio apartments. They should expand the size of the small FC house or use this model for personal housing.Having another floor would be perfect. We recently got a small FC house in Gridania and it is TINY. Like claustrophobic tiny. It's the size of a real life one person occupancy efficiency. But even just having the 2nd floor would help out. Maybe if it was loft styled, to help open up the space a little. And yeah, there are some furnishings that just flat out don't fit in the small house. You should have seen me laughing when i put Llymlaen's Embrace in there. It's so big it clips something no matter where you put it!
Patch 2.2 was said to be scheduled for March 2014.
From DualShockers (they usually publish a bajillion screen caps of the LIVE letters...), two snaps of the small house basement:

See the DualShockers article for many more screens and info from the whole LIVE letter.
Edit: Just wanted to say: Thank you SE for listening!
Double the space and half the price. I think small houses could start to "fly off the shelves" now.![]()

Yep, small houses are being doubled in size. A great change, and good to know SE listens to player feedback.
Hopefully we'll be able to keep our furnishings in the basement. I have a sick feeling in my tummy that the basement will be filled with an airship.
Here's the thing, I love my FC's small house. Sure it is a bit disappointing the size is so tiny, but the challenge of making it work has been half the fun of having this house. The plot is the best in the game imo as well (plot 19 in the Mist). In the end, I truly believe they should increase the base floor size and heighten the ceiling so the camera can actually take in the room.

Is it just me or does the shot of the cellar space look like it's actually bigger than small's as it is right now? if x is the square footage between the 'pillars' then the small's right now are clearly 3x by 3x.
But that cellar space looks like it's at least 3x by 5x not counting the stairs. So is a hole in a corner of the smalls going to magically appear and spawn stairs to a cellar that's bigger than the house, or will it be a purchasable addition that will increase both the size of the main floor and add a cellar of that size?
Along with the added basement, the square footage of the first floor is getting increased. So I imagine they'll both me the same size once the additions are in.
A true paladin... will sheathe his sword.
