I think FC that bought the small plots are just stuck with their stacks.

Been in all three sizes, and I have to say, small, is stupid small. That is the size I would expect for two people(when marriage is added I would think you could share a house). For a FC to buy a small house, I would say that FC could be no bigger than 50 people for the amount of people that would be logged in at one time and be there at their house at any one point in time. They real need to either add an attic, or make a basement.

The real insult of small houses is that each ward has 3 Large, 7 Medium, and 20 Small. 15 wards across all the housing zones, so that ends up being 45 Large, 105 Medium, and a whopping 300 Small houses out of the total 450 plots. So 2/3rds of all plots are arguably not worth owning.

SE just announced plans to cut the small house price in half across all worlds. That makes me think that small house won't be getting more square footage or another floor.

I'm not sure on the situation on other servers but on our small server, most of the FC's here, rarely exceed 15 active players. The largest FC's here hits about 75+ active but I've only seen one on our entire server. We have a few close to 50 but that is less then a handful.

Here is an idea that some people in my FC and are were talking about. On the exterior of there is a slot for Exterior Wall Decoration which as of right not is limited to chimneys and awnings. Perhaps another option, a Cellar could be added, which would allow access to an instanced basement for the cottages. This would function as another entrance like the front door and there would not be a connection from within the cottages thus eliminating the need for stairs inside the cottage, which to be honest would not fit. This would allow FC with small houses to have access to some additional space with out having to redesign the existing structure of the small houses as it would just add an entrance to an another instanced area.

As a reference I attached an image with showing the Remodel Exterior interface highlighted the slot where the cellar entrance would able to placed.

Since the interiors of houses are not 1:1 to their outside appearances anyway, it wouldn't be too hard to just make the inside of a Small bigger all around and add some stairs. Regardless, an addition option to them down the line would, I think, make them more worth their costs. Even at 50% off they are still hard to fit enough stuff inside to be that fun to decorate, imo.

Hey ya, on top of that lets give the mediums an extra floor since they are paying MILLIONS more than a small, and lets give larges 2 extra floors since they pay MANY MILLIONS more than a medium.
The price is change compared to mediums and large and the house size represents that. Stop trying to dish out the minimum and trying to recieve better.

There is a simple reason why the appeal of Small lots matters to even those who don't want them (I personally have no interest in a Small lot): according to the housing info transcript from the last Live Letter, new Wards will not be opened until the majority of lots in all existing wards are filled. And the vast majority of Wards are made up of Small lots.

It's in the benefit of EVERYONE that Smalls are desirable to buy, so once all Large and Medium lots are filled in the 5 Wards we have now, we won't be stuck not getting any new neighborhoods because not enough people are buying Smalls. It's less of 'greedy poors wanting better houses for less' and more 'make people actually WANT to own Small lots so those who can afford bigger homes all have the chance of getting the lots they want". Otherwise we'll have 5 Wards that are 2/3 empty with all Med/Large lots taken and no new ones being opened because people hate the Small lots. If it takes adding a little more room inside or a basement or something, SE should just do that because it's the simplest way of making more people want to buy a Small.
