Though I've never had a queue that long, I have had the 2/4 DPS window lit up for over an hour before when I queued by myself.

    That's right. You cannot buy most good dungeon gear (which there is no match for on the markets or NPC vendors) for a Lancer anywhere else other than *rolling* greed on the piece against a tank who can roll need. Dungeon gear is the best gear in the game leveling up, on purpose by SE. If it says the lancer can use it, the lancer should be able to *need* on it as well.

    I'm kind of confused on how this thread is 13 pages of different opinions. If you increase the DPS from 2 to 3 in dungeons, it'd result in faster queue times for DPS.

    Let's say, for example, you can have 50 dungeons concurrent at any time (due to server machine limitations). 50 * 2 = 100 DPS doing dungeons. 50 * 3 = 150. That's 50 more DPS that could be in those dungeons. Or, how about you have 100 concurrent dungeons. That's 100 more DPS.

    That adds up to a 50% increase in the number of DPS per hour (figuratively) that could be doing dungeons.

    Not only would we run into the "reserving an instance" issue less, but overall queue times would decrease because you'd have more DPS going through the pipe, causing less of a bottleneck. Does more water come out of a pipe if you make the pipe bigger?

    I guess the only issue after that would be DPS wanting to queue more often cause their queue times would be better lol.

    Oh, also telling people to "just roll a tank" is kind of invalid ideology. Telling people to play something they don't want to is certainly not a good way to try and keep a game afloat.

    There is absolutely no chance, from now till hell freezes over and pigs learn to fly, that SE is going to rebalance and recode the whole game just so dps queues are slightly better

    Considering this is the only solution that doesn't amount to "roll more tanks", you're going to be whining about it for a long time if that's how you decide to deal with it. Or you threaten to quit with an attitude of self-importance, not at all a threat as cliche as it gets. It at least gives older players a good, nostalgic laugh.

    Personally I rolled a tank, change is fun and exciting.

    it just took 8 minutes for my DF to pop as a dps.

    I think you guys might be the exception here. you're probably queuing for something not many people run

    They could just make light parties consist of 6 people. 1 Tank, 1 Healer, 4 DPS. Then rebalance the light party dungeons.

    Would be also nice if we could see what members are missing in a party BEFORE we agree to join a Party In Progress. I'd have a house by now if I got 10 gil for every time I wasted my DPS queue by joining a party in progress to then find out both healer and tank were missing, consequentially forcing me to go back and re-start the queue from the end of the line.

    It's rare in the MMO world, but Guild Wars 2 does a fantastic job of not having a tank / healer / dps problem. I still greatly enjoy playing the game and running dungeons with no obvious holy trinity roles. And before the flame starts, people need to know I am stating personal opinions. "Fantastic job" and "greatly enjoy" are personal opinions for me. So a game that has no tank, healer or DPS specific roles, for me, does work.

    Bluevann, I agree. When I queue up as DPS, in my mind I think I am screwed either way. Either I want to at least try to get into something sooner and click "In Progress", which it seems quit a bit I get in and it is just me and the other DPS staring at each other, or, I don't, the queue time is even longer.

    Then even less people would make tanks/healers, in 2 months you have the same issue.
