I cant disagree with Jins idea. Plus this is a good gil sinkhole for those of u with deep pockets. Heck maybe if you're in a party u can get a group discount. But i dont wanna pay luggage fees.

Anyway, I'd see this idea of yours, but only in two contexts:
10000 gil to warp to the major cities.
Determined amount of gil to any camp based on how far from the city it is.
Because having the possibility to warp everywhere would make Mounts/Hairships worthless, considered the little gap of space between camps and nodes.
That's the way I would implement it, but only if I'm ordered to. By myself, I would leave this idea alone and keep using Animas, Mounts, Airsheeps, Boats and our own Feet to walk around the world. Feels more immersive, butthurt and adventurous than going to a guy asking for teleport, which is boring, easy mode and not satisfactory at all.

Sorry ahead of time for the Wall-o-text.
Kouji... this isn't WoW. Some people LIKE the idea that the value of their character comes from the time it takes to get what, and where, you need to succeed. If you want to play a vertical based game, then you honestly should return to WoW because I'm pretty sure this game is going to be very horizontal and most of it's Player base wish it will to. Also Chocobo's and Airships are within every Final Fantasy game, to not provide a real use for them would be blasphemy to much of it's fanbase (myself included).Originally Posted by KoujiGeki
lol just make anima unlimited and call it a day. screw chocobos tired of seeing the same copy and paste environment anyways. make it like 11 you just have to visit it once and you can warp freely. screw the boats and airships rides sitting there for minutes watching nothing happen is stupid watching paint dry is more productive just copy Wow and make it a warp dont need a birds eye veiw of the copy/paste maps.
These are BRILLIANT ideas!Originally Posted by Volsung

Chocobos in cities you rent and take out in the wilds. Rough pathing that only chocobos can traverse, can lead to content/camps/dungeons/nms
player owned airships for reaching land unable to get to by foot or chocobo. vistas/temples high up in the mountains, islands on the water
Company airships for taking large groups of people from your company to location of content they want to perform.
city airships that simply go from city to city
more boat paths with fishing and new land areas like bibiki bay->pronongo or phauneut channel in XI
as for airhsips and endgame to keep things unique, if it were an endgame event like dynamis that only an airhsip can take you- call it rough flight, and say your airship can only take you once a day then it would "need repairs to be ready again"
Fixes I think could balance a lot:
*** NEVER EVER Let someone teleport to a location they have not previously traveled to ***
1.
* Do away with Anima, as well as the many teleport stations.
* Create a form of magic use for limited teleport locations, this provides an actual use for chocobo's. As is the outposts are to close to one another for there to be a need for chocobo's at every one.
* Impliment Chocobo's/Airships
2.
* Repair the anima system, requiring the use of an NPC to limit the locations one can teleport from (towns only) and also to (fewer outposts, differentiating costs).
* Change the recharge process of anima to use of gil or tasks via missions / quests / leves.
*Impliment Chocobo's/Airships
Obviously these can be re-arranged and such but I this is my second time making this post so I've limited my responses.

I want a Cat(Miqo'te) mount.

How would this system be worse than the anima system right now? The gil amount was an example. SE could easily make it 1 million gil for one port, are you going to use if it costs 100k to a million for each port? I doubt it. A sensible amount would be 10k. You'd only be able to use the warps if you have them already.Anyway, I'd see this idea of yours, but only in two contexts:

But this isn't a thread about removing anima, it's adding another alternate way of transporting you character. It didn't make chocobos/airships/boats, and your own feet worthless in FFXI.

FFXI also had all kinds of warp rings, weapons, armor pieces. These types of item could be introduced a little later. I definitely think that outpost warps should be a higher on the list of things to do than the items.
If anima had to be absolutely removed, I'd say do it before the PS3 launch. Otherwise the new players could just get their buddies to warp them there.

+1, 2 and 3 to all this! What I'd really like (even two+ years down the line)

Yes, unlike FFXI (unless I'm just not remembering correctly) and like some of the other FF games, chocobos should not just be a faster mode of transport, but also one that can take you to along previously inaccessible paths. Opening up shortcuts and new areas.
And player owned and built airships have a lot of potential, especially if you're more than just a passenger on those things.

Worse? I'm saying that's boring, easy mode and not satisfactory at all. What I meant is that it can be better in the means of transportation, but with the side-effect said before, adding the fact that the player may not know the world enough, for example: "Yeah! Reached the node, F*CK YOEAH! Now I can use the teleport in the city!" 1 year later "Excuse me, sir, how do I reach Camp Broken Water?" "Uh... from here (Gridania)... duh... I dunno."How would this system be worse than the anima system right now? The gil amount was an example. The fact is that I'm seeing this game like a game that hasn't any relationship with the others, like it has always been, so I don't compare FFXI to FFXIV for their functional setup. Actually here you have a reason not to have it, which is to explore, learn the world, its paths and shortcuts, and so on.

I have actually tried to get most of the nodes and camps that I could possibly get from soloing and a few with a guildmate. I now that most of the mobs at alot of these nodes are 70+. It would be very annoying to have to get there on foot again considering the mobs almost 1 shot me all the time, biast-types do one shot me. I wouldn't want to run there, even on chocobos if I needed to get there fast for an event.
Even though, if outpost warp was possible, these warps wouldn't make it easy mode if you still had walking to do. If these new added dungeons were only available through aetherytes in camps, that would be extremely lame. IHopefully it won't be like that. So once you get to the camp you still have some running to do.
I'd like to see you use that as a reasonable excuse to be late to an event.
Person>> "Where are you?"
You>> "Running from Gridanaia to Emerald Moss, why?"
Person>>"Why, just warp? We are about to start in1 minute"
You>>"Porting is easy mode, I refuse to"

More like "I finished all my animas, I can't." or "I'll be right there with my chocobo"
Well, of course you plan it before, then establish a time to rendez-vous in a place and teleport all together. Who's in is in, who's not is not. In a party of 8 it's 80% sure that someone has animas to teleport, otherwise all the party goes together to the point walking or teleporting as near as possible.
