I would like to see a mage Tank. Either a shapeshifter mage or one that can cast a protection spell on itself. Would be more interesting than another melee tank.

SAMURAI should be a support DD.
Like AoE TP Regain, or able to inflict a mob with status effect so you don't need to position yourself flank or rear but still receive dmg buff.
Skillchain....
Goodbye, Final Fantasy...
The next tank should be templar! They already have all the means to set it up. Base class could be lancer.
I dont see how adding another tank class would suddenly fix the problem of so few tanks, those that want to already are and those that dont wont touch the class outside of seeing what its like.
Granted new tanks will come and thats good, but tanks are always in short supply. The majority simply either dont want the responsibility or prefer to see bigger numbers floating around.
If and when they do add a new tank I would love for them to go the unconventional route and make a ranged or magic based tank (Engineer/Rune Fencer?).
There is little point to adding more tanks job/class it will not effect the number of tanks in the long run a fast first month rush is great then poof gone and all you do is make a few war/pld change to the new tank job since they like the style more.
That been said the Templar and Rune Fencer seem the most likely to be the next tanks added.
Templar form the LNC but i guess they would have to change a few skills since it would not be able to attack form behind when tanking and blood for blood would be more or less asking to die on any thing hard.
Rune Fencer seems like it would come form red mage so be more unlikely to be added.
I don't tank more for vanity reasons. Don't care for the look of the endgame gear for tanks. I dont mind war af1.5 look so once the implement vanity system and obtain the gear I will likely level my war further. As well I don't like how swords are all on pld hip. If they placed on back under shield It would look better to me. Not a real good reason, but if I can't stand the way my character looks I just don't want to play it.
Maybe have a stance that adds different affects to those two abilities when used from the Front (as well as defensive and +enmity stuff). Something like - Impulse Drive has increased Enmity when used from the front, and Heavy Thrust decreases enemy damage dealt when used from the Front.
I'd actually really like to see SAM as a tank personally. I think its the only way I'd end up playing it. But I'd also be very surprised if they did that. I think a lot of people would be very upset if it wasn't a DPS. But then again, I think everyone would rather see every class as a DPS.
I just hope the next Class released comes with two Jobs and that they aren't both DPS. I also hope if/when they add new Jobs to the existing classes that they aren't all just the same Role as the one they already have (ex.- adding another DPS Job for PUG or LNC, adding another Healer Job to WHM, etc.)
Armor is arbitrary. They can make tanking equivalent Leather, robes etc. Saying that they should make another heavy armor type is kind of missing the point when people ask for visual variety, right now if you tank or heal you have the least options for visual choices while DPS has unique stuff for almost every class(except caster) on every tier.
For those interested, see the below URLs for two threads very similar to this one. Nothing wrong with re-speculating things, but lots of stuff in these folks might find interesting...

The generation of random numbers is too important to be left to chance.
