Mine is definitely 1080p as my GUI/HUD are all over and occupying the edge of the screen in smallest display size, once I was in lower resolution (not quite 720p) they HUD elements all bunched up. So on that reason, I know it is definitely in 1080p.

May quite possible that iPad AirDisplay that cause the issue that it's not rendering in the full aspect? And double check to see which is the display output set at. Try out as what Meric suggested, take things down all the way to single GPU, not other extra display stuff on/enabled, then try SLI, then bring back on the AirDisplay.

p/s: I have used AirDisplay for short period many months ago, but not during/while gaming. I found that AirDisplay is working slow-as dog and totally removed it in the end as I don't see it be any useful or beneficial.

The 720p in Borderless Window is happening with no other programs running, I am trying to do 1080p borderless windowed as a solution to FFXIV crashing when I come out of full screen and go to the other monitor. Crossfire On/Off it doesn't affect anything, same results.

You do realise that when you select borderless windowed, the 'resolution' controls within FFXIV are disabled, and match the resolution that windows is using, right? The numbers listed under 'custom' are just the default settings for if you change off borderless windowed - they're not the settings currently being applied.

You can't make FFXIV run 'full screen' or 'borderless' in a different resolution to your desktop.

I understand that is how it is supposed to work, but then why is it playing in 720p ? I desktop is set to 1080p 60Hz that is why this is so damn frustrating.

ETA: Also running a fullhd monitor alongside another, on ATI GPU (6950) without any issues.
Here are my screen shots of 1080p Full Screen and then when I changed to Borderless WIndow

Can someone please tell me what the heck I am doing wrong here ?

this is from my config file and it shows screen mode 2 which I assume is borderless window and the 1080p resolution, but as you can see from the screenshots it actually plays in 720p

Try disabling CrossFire and just run under single GPU? It is very weird there. My Borderless Window is definitely 1080p and in perfect crisp look, but my GPU is nVidia GT730m.

Also, try with another monitor instead of your TV?

    p/s: found your query on AMD.com: http://forums.amd.com/game/messagevi...hreadid=171267

Well I am kinda shocked nobody from AMD was willing to even give an attempt to help me.

I will be moving to a GTX690 and will not be returning as an ATI/AMD customer.

    PROBLEM SOLVED !!!

After running my HDMI cable directly to the TV that still didn't fix it which I was pretty upset about but it did give me a big jump in FPS. I was about to just give up when I thought I would check my font/icon settings. Since I play about 8' from my 60" TV i increased the size to 150% so I could read the text and icons.

    BINGO !

As soon as I loaded FFXI it let me play 1080p borderless windowed, again this was bittersweet as I got it working but the huge drop now in FPS for not using my other card in Crossfire. After doing some more testing and checking that my iPad still was working as a 2nd monitor I was ready to try and test backing out of the game to go to my desktop. To my suprise this worked just as it should, I was able to exit the game and go back in with no crashing. I was reluctant to attempt to click on my iPad monitor as that might cause another crash but it worked fine too.

Solution: I guess you cannot increase your font/icon size for windows and play to your full desktop resolution in Borderless WIndowed or for playing Full Screen with Dual Monitors.

I see, you've set a display scaling... that wee culprit... Isn't GTX690 a SLI-in-one-card? I'm not entirely sold on SLI gaming seeing that many games still aren't actually tapping full potential of SLI-ness without many issues.

It is a dual GPU card but as far as I know it does not need to run in SLI to use both GPU's, I could be wrong here. Either way it is better then my 2 year old setup now with a lot more room for cooling and OC.

Would it cost similarily to GTC 780ti? If so, why not just get the latter instead?

GTX690 is $999.99 and last I looked been the most powerful hobby card you can get, I looked at the Ti models and I already have 3Gb with my (2) ATI 6990.

The GTX 690 has a 40 MHz higher core clock speed and 80 more Render Output Units than the GTX 780 Ti. This results in the GTX 690 providing 75.1 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 780 Ti was released over a year more recently than the GTX 690, and so the GTX 780 Ti is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The GTX 690 has 5120 MB more video memory than the GTX 780 Ti, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the GTX 690 also has superior memory performance overall.

The bottom line is Nvidia is pulling out all the stops with the GTX 780 Ti in an effort to shame the R9 290X, and once again establish itself as the king of the single-GPU space. It should be noted that the GTX 780 Ti does not offer Double Precision compute performance like the GTX Titan, so CUDA developers will still prefer that card. The GTX 780 Ti is made for gamers, not scientists.

Worth checking the specs between the two: GTX 690 vs GTX 780 Ti
