I started a week ago and have a ~40% win rate (just for data purposes; not saying this is good) in 30/40s including like 5x 50 losses when I just started and realized I shouldn't be doing 50. Average queue time for ranged DPS in primetime is 4-8 minutes; not even worth doing outside of primetime as the queue can be 45 mins+. Twinked 40 gear certainly gives a bit of an advantage, but it's not nearly as bad as doing a 50 against i90 PVP geared players.

Just keep grinding 30/40 solo; it's not that bad. Losing 50 90% of the time would just drive me crazy; I've actually had some decent battles in the 40 (30 typically has some people who wandered over straight from Haukke Manor to try PVP and are a disaster). The queues suck, but if you have a melee DPS, just go on that; queues are super short.

I'm not putting myself in the back of the bus because people are sore losers. It's not against to rules to que for 50 pvp, so I'm gonna do it. Deal with it.
No one is forcing you, but you can hardly complain when you lose 90% of your matches in the 50's bracket. People like you frustrate me. The rest of us that didn't hit Rank 30 in a week grinded out in level 40 bracket before 2.15... now it's your turn. Put together a premade.

And this is exactly why I will keep queing 50s. Pre-50 pvp is dead, but no one cares for anyone except themselves. As I said, my emo faze is over, I'm just gonna sit back, grind 15 hours a day, and enjoy the hate that follows. From now on, it's off my shoulders. Haters gonna hate.

What I'm suggesting is that you form a premade party for 40s. You don't necessarily get put up against other premades, it could be the 4 of you versus 4 random people. I was messing around in 40s yesterday doing this with some friends, and our queues were instant (during mid afternoon EST) compared to 5-10 minute queues in 50 bracket for solo.

If you can get a group of friends also new to pvp, get level 40-ish gear and meld it with some materia (see the post on how to "twink" in lv40s), hop on vent together, you will probably win a huge majority of your matches and accumulate exp/points much faster than losing in 50s.

I personally don't think "Twinking" is a bad thing cause really aside from RnG from Bluefog Levechest others all depend the amount of gil you have. You aren't going against a "wall" in 50s bracket, and certainly if you'd don't want to put some effort in your Twink gear I don't expect you to do well at all in any PvP. Twinking gear takes only about 200k gil.

And by promoting this bracket it will pull more people into the bracket so people have a fairer field of play, and you have more control of the outcome of a game. That is why I wrote the guide

I hide with my group behind one of the walls. 2 dragoons run up to me behind the wall and start to beat me, I can't cast anything because I get interrupted all the time, I run away from them trying to break line of sight, cast benediction on myself, swiftcast cure 2 and surecast cure 2, and that's it, I can't cast anything after those, and I just get stunned all the time and I melt in seconds.
Welcome to the world of the WHM in pvp muahahahah

Typically I care less about the elitist attitude in MMOs, cause I normally find people bad enough to justify it (I was in an Ifrit Extreme the other day where a Summoner only used Ruin the entire nail phase...). But I've definitely seen a lot of unnecessary doucheness from PVPers in Primal, mostly coming from R30s when they lose a match.

You know, like telling an ilvl 90 Warrior who just said it's his first match never to queue again.

That being said, I don't feel sorry for people that queue for PVP in Darklight, or with ilvl 55 GC weapons. There is absolutely zero excuse for players to not have ilvl 90 myth gear or at minimum CT gear on a class, even if you've never touched Coil or a Primal in your FFXIV career.

There are also people in the queue that don't even have all their cross-class abilities. I've seen healers without Swiftcast and Scholars without Stoneskin. That is completely unacceptable, and you are costing other players matches.

Yeah, everyone needs to start somewhere, but if you can't do the bare minimum of mind-numbingly casual stuff like capping Myth every week and leveling a Thaumaturge to 26, then do everyone a favor and don't start PVP.

How dare you queue for completely unrated PvP without going through many weeks of gated end-game content.
    HOW DARE YOU.

    is this real

gonna just emphasize the part where people can't really get through any of that faster, and telling them to not participate for multiple weeks is hilarious

they go down to 30/40, have no abilities, and then people rage at them for that too.
that, and syncing yourself down is terrible and the differences in power spikes for classes is awful.

Going into a PVP queue against rank 30s and rank 20+ in Darklight and a GC weapon is the same as going against Twintania in Darklight and a GC weapon. If you think you deserve to be a liability to your group just because you dinged 50, you're an idiot. I've seen people in the queue that have ilvl 39 accessories and AF1, and its the exact case I'm talking about where you deserve to get flamed. Like 50 PVP, Coil doesn't have a specified requirement either, but no one is going to want to group with you if you haven't invested any time in your character.

I swear, the self-entitlement of people playing MMOs is unreal. Obviously one person's desire to PVP on an unfinished character outweighs the other three's desire to have a PVP match where they actually have a chance of winning. Get real. Deal with the longer 30 and 40 queue and work on winning instead of boning the 50 queue just so you can get faster marks.
