If you didn't start PvP before, then don't start ever?

So like, 2 days into PvP using crappy i55 gear and going constantly up against rank 30 premades, I have been losing 90% of the matches I go into. Its as if tactics barely matter until you hit 30. Mind you I do play to win; I'm not intentionally corpse grinding and especially not botting, yet I still get a truckload of insults and bullying for essentially being fresh into the game. I'm not a sore loser, I don't go blaming people for losing, I rather take it as a learning experience, but the people you que with do not allow it.

but u should just play 40 pvp lol
I tried, and its dead. Very long que times. I get more marks for losing in 50 pvp than winning in 40 pvp. That's insane. And since pre-endgame pvp is just getting marks then there really is no point of 40 pvp.

Through this, I've learned that the majority of the PvP community are negative, selfish sore losers. I did cancel my sub a couple days ago, but now that my emo phase is over, I'm gonna start grinding again - playing to win of course. I've decided to report anyone who bullies for harassment, and give commendations to the rare few who are mature. If Square Enix allows me to que 50s in i55 gear, then I'm going to excessively exercise use of that permission. If you que with Kassiekane Ravenheart, deal with it or drop. I'm fed up with you all.

Lol you made just the right thread to which I can post on.

So I decided to try the PvP the first time yesterday, I have ilvl83 whm and I don't have any PvP gear, I though that it's fine, and fired up the df for level 50 PvP. So I tell everyone that I am new and ask for general tips and strategies. Only response I get is "don't die". Fight begins, I hide with my group behind one of the walls. 2 dragoons run up to me behind the wall and start to beat me, I can't cast anything because I get interrupted all the time, I run away from them trying to break line of sight, cast benediction on myself, swiftcast cure 2 and surecast cure 2, and that's it, I can't cast anything after those, and I just get stunned all the time and I melt in seconds. My first though was "it must be my gear" So I spent fricking 100000 gil for lvl55 hq PvP gear. I try again, same thing, I get raped within the first 20-30 secs.

I now have 6 losses and nothing else, I don't know what I am doing wrong, there isn't anything I can do, I basically die the moment a dragoon sees me (There were always 2 dragoons, I don't get it)

I am not trying PvP again, I got traumatized. PvP seems to show big middle finger to anyone new.

I actually find PvP one of the most unfun things in FF XIV and I regard myself as a Veteran MMO PvPer (DaoC, AO, WAR, Rift, SWTOR, SWG, GW1 & 2, D&D:NW, etc)

    The issues

    1. Gear >Skill, Even if you have the best Gear for your level higher levels in their Arti Gear will still wreck you even if they make a lot of mistakes.

    2. Non-Existent Class Balance. PvP was clearly made as an afterthought, balancing hasnt been touched and it shows.

    3. Mechanics Favor Disciples of War & Punish Disciples of Magic, instant skills vs classes that have to stand still.

    4. No Risk vs Reward scale.

    5. Too small

    6. No weapon vs Armor formulae to speak of.

    7. CC IF landed is extremely strong and isnt tuned for PvP, if you didnt remember to stock up on anti-status pots you are in bother)

This game cries out for the Bladeturn skill (for those uncertain would allow the caster to absorb the first attack giving them chance to react)
    Just my thoughts.

Thats why 8v8 bracket would be much better(for grinding purpose) since 1 single person not affect so much from the game and new players would win easier.
If you are new player in the pvp you have 5 choices

    - try low lvl brackets until you have lvl 70 gear
    - let some1 roll ur face in the lvl 50 bracket or hope there is another new players opponent side
    - Try find ilvl 90 friends that can carry you
    - wait until 2.2 patch for the new content
    - Quit whole pvp

The first thing I really want to say is: I feel your pain. It really is atrocious that there is no seperate bracket or rating system for newer members to initiate themselves into pvp without going up against a rank 30, ilvl90 wearing experienced player. If you take a look around these forums you'll see many...MANY people voicing the same opinion.

That being said, there are a few things you can do to make life easier on yourself. First, Queue for the 30/40 brackets. I know you said the queue times are long, and they can be, depending on your class and what time you queue. I generally have better luck with the 30 bracket in the daytime. I actually queue on my Scholar (I main bard for pvp) just to get faster queues, and since morale plays no factor in 30/40 i'm not gimping myself overly much. Do this until you get yourself a good amount of i70 gear as well as some experience. I would also suggest solo queuing to maximize your xp/mark gain.

I realize this isn't the way pvp SHOULD be. It's certainly not. Sadly, it is what it is.

As for the pvp community. It's partially true. Most people within the match have almost no patience or willingness to help. You're either spectacular or you should die in a raging car fire. I find the opposite is true (mostly) here on the forums. You can get a good amount of tips/tricks/info from here.

@Samsta - I'm assuming you were queued for the 50 bracket in your pvp gear? And this was recently. Chances are you were going up against i70/i90 geared players in your pve gear and on top of that you had none of the pvp abilities. It's my opinion that the healers have the steepest learning curve and longest path to tread to be on equal footing. Purify/Attunement/Equanimity/sacred prism Are all basically neccessities to living as a healer. If constant interrupts to casts wasn't enough, the sync server is so broken in this game that it just compounds the problem for healers. My best advice is the same as what I said above. Use your pve gear in the 30/40 brackets. Learn how to avoid getting interrupted (Pillar/corner humping/abusing sprint) and as you play pick up the abilities/i70 gear and then try out the 50 bracket again.

Anyway, I rambled a bit. I'm on 2 days of no sleep (I'm 2581/4620 to rank 30) but I do hope this helps. Hang in there, changes will most certainly be coming!

"I started pvp late and now i get owned by people who didn't"

    you poor dears.

That's always the problem with a reward system that involves gear. Its the same in wow, ppl with the best pvp gear kill the people that don't have pvp gear. Its a shitty model.
The game kinda does it right with the PvP abilities, but imo they should remove morale and make the i90 warwolf gear usable in pve (remove materia limitation), also make the pvp abilities usable in pve so care-bears have incentive to pvp as well - More noobs in PvP means less chance of getting put up against non-noobs.

Also remove the level 30 cap :d

OK, keep in mind Harassment is against the rules of this game, nothing validates it in any way. Simply running off to lower level brackets only promotes said behavior. However, there are things you can do, to end harassment. Firstly, don't argue with the bully, when you have reached your tolerance level of harassment clearly state, "Please leave me alone." Anything that follows IS harassment. Screenshot the harassment, note the date and time, report the harassment with the bully's name, the time, date, place and timezone you're in, let the GM know you have a screenshot (they can check the logs too).

What the GM will do is give the bully a permanent warning, if they proceed to harass you or someone else, and are reported, they will get a temporary suspension on their account, if they harass one more time they loose their account permanantly. Do not use it to falsely report, the GM can and will check the logs, and you run the risk of loosing your account.

Grind and Get PvP skills (Buy The i70 gear when you can)

You Fail and learn that is the only way

Once you hit a certain rank and have a mix of PvP gear and Skills at your disposal then you will see a big difference. Until Then Q up LvL 30 and 40 because you will just get curve stomp all day at rank 50

Patience is the key here in PvP and if you don't have any please don't bother with it at all

A lot of people hit Rank 30 after 1 week of pvp, way before 2.15 'balancing' issues. Those of us who did NOT hit Rank 30 in that time went into Rank 40, where morale does not come into play and most gear scales down to be about the same.

If you are brand new to pvp, you should grind in the 40's bracket until you have a decent amount of i70 gear. The i55 gear is completely useless, as even i70 pve gear is better due to the higher base stats.

A new problem, of course, is that people are now "twinking" for level 40 bracket. That is, getting gear as close to level 40 as possible and 5-melding it. But that's much rarer than running into pvp-geared players in level 50 bracket.

I'm not putting myself in the back of the bus because people are sore losers. It's not against to rules to que for 50 pvp, so I'm gonna do it. Deal with it.
