What is a "Wy" ?
we have to stop this circle!
playing this game is your SIN. they just give us some hope and sacrifice one patch every 10 years to keep Eorzea in calm.
we must defeat SIN and this Dream Eorzea will end.

I can't answer those first questions because those are directed to the Dev team and Yoshi-P.So the question I have for the community is: is the current team's solution to FFXIV just modeling it after MMO systems that have already proved successful in other MMO's, making it yet another copycat MMO? I know they're going by the feedback they received but is this really the solution? Will this really make it successful? And to the current development team: If you are just revamping things based on other MMO's systems (like the auto attack) what will make FFXIV unique? What will make me want to play FFXIV's auto attack instead of another MMOs auto attack system? Many believe that FFXIV isn't failing but ALREADY failed. Is making FFXIV resemble other MMO's really what's going to put this game on the map and revolutionize it?
They know what they want to be done. And we'll hate what they'll do, because humans have this hatred for SE because they don't do what they want, and SE is doing what they want.
I don't care as long as Yoshi keeps his words. And by his words I mean "To give a Final Fantasy feeling". As long as there is that, I'll be happy.
adding auto attack and a couple of ws is not redesigning the battle system in my books.
I don't care if it is not complete I am sooooooooooo dispointed
I am who I am. I am not someone else, nor would I ever wish to be
I'm holding judgement for now, but it's most likely going to be mediocre like everything else, and they'll set themselves back once again. I dearly hope that dungeon monsters are going to be difficult enough to require player specialization and not boring free-for-alls like open world monsters; otherwise, jobs are going to be pointless.
I hope that eventually the market wards will evolve into some kind of auction house system. I don't care if it still resembles the market wards or not. As long as it makes buying and selling player goods efficient and intuitive. Should the markets be linked into one? I'm not sure but it would probably help spread out the player base.Lowered collision with terrain? Now the game looks weird AND jump won't be implemented.
More features on MW? We're now moving further away from a window/text only display that's stable and user friendly, AND wasting time with a system 90% of customers, current and potential, dislike.
Sped up levels 1-20? Instead of making early game fun to charm new players, they're pushing everyone to mid and high levels. They will not be making low level content anymore, and levels 1-20 will remain a boring, pointless grindfest that nobody likes.
Quests with mediocre story, mediocre item rewards, and NO exp rewards? Does anyone but the most devoted fanboy even care about these?
I haven't noticed the game looking weird because of collision changes and I'm generally very picky when it comes to visual oddities so I can't say that one is a problem for me.
This last point however, this is the big one. Level 1-20, what is essentially the beginning of the game (a little extended maybe). To me the beginning of a game is like the beginning of a story, a speech or anything else that requires a persons attention. It needs to pull you in! As such, I completely agree with wolfie and what he said about this.
Given the state of the game and that for the next unknown amount of time they will be trying to bring players back to the game along with new players. Making the first 20 levels a FUN and MEMORABLE experience should be just as much a priority as mid and high level content. Perhaps more so considering that if new and returning players aren't interested or engaged by the beginning content why would they stick around to see the mid or end game? "Oh just stick it out the end is way better".... and then its over and you've slogged through 50 levels to wait for more content that may or may not be as good.
One last thing, the current zone design will probably inhibit these engaging, memorable, FUN experiences. The thread in my signature is all about how zone re-design can enable much more of these memorable, engaging experiences at all levels.
One of the big letdowns for me were the systems and the combat in XIV. Most FF's have their own interesting and intuitive way of progressing your character, as well fluid combat with interesting mechanics going on. In XIV the systems seem very "flat" (there is little depth) and the combat isn't even worthy of last-gen praise...
