I think people are just being selfish. They have the mentality that can bang their head against 90 hours of enter pressing. Others don't. That gives them the advantage. Not others. They want systems they have advantages in. Not others. Everything else is "easy" to them.

No, everything else is "better" and they just have higher-caliber players for competition if it gets better. Would you all really rather have an advantage in a ****ty game just to have an advantage, rather than cut the nonsense and let the chips fall where they may? Crafters today are like the kings of curling. They're not great. They're just insistant. They're only good at curling because no one curls. If talent curled, they'd be sitting at home watching others do it.

Most "crafters" won't be able to afford to level up crafts if autolevelling gets implemented. Gold ore will be 90k each if the time it takes to level is no longer the major factor in cost of a craft. And that's the way it should be. Time spammers of monotony should not have advantage. Neither should botters and memory controllers.

It won't be easier. You won't be able to afford it, no matter how many times in a row you can press enter.

Time to stop petitioning the game to cater to the caliber of player who can just hit the enter button the most. That's a low-caliber skill. When the only thing you're good at is a low-caliber skill, a robot can essentially phase you out of existance and will. And that is good for everyone else.

Don't be that low-skill person that a computer could easily replace. You all are better than that, aren't you?

I think we have a lot of people willing to vote for a bad system so they can stay on top of it by sheer will, and that's dishonest and counter-productive for the quality of the game.

Me, I don't care about anything but game quality. I'm not in it for fame, name, or fortune. I'm not hustling, I don't have an angle. And I'm tired of agendas who are and do to who want to keep the game 4/10 because that makes them kings of it (by default). End the levelling farce. All it takes is an enter button. A skill that common (even to non-persons) should not be rewarded.

Whatever skill crafting has rewarded thus far, shouldn't be. I can train a rat to level a craft to 50. Honestly the whole system is an insult to your humanity.

Really, why defend that? There is no legitimate reason to defend this system.

If you want to make crafting 180 hours of FUN, good luck. Can't really be done. You can only take away the monotony by adding hoops to it. 180 hours of FUN can't even be done on the free market. What are they going to do, give you angry birds? Hell no, do you have any idea how lucky you have to be to have a hit timewaster, and how much money that could make by itself?

Can't be done. So eliminate the sad gameplay keeping the wrong players at the top of crafting. The fun is in finding a market that makes money and participating in it. That takes more work than levelling a craft. You all seem to think that crafting levels is the primary determinant of how much money you make, and it's not. It's just the willingness to look at the economy and see what people want.

Many of you all have only two goals in crafting.
    1. Ride that economic bubble of new syntheses where demand is "everyone" until it bursts in as many high-level crafts as you can.
    2. Spam garbage until you get "tha best" HQ of "tha best" gear.

Gee, anyone could come up with that game plan. But can any of you really survive as crafters? Probably not, because neither of those two models have sustaining potential.

If that's all you all have in your crafting arsenal, you probably shouldn't waste your time with that 4th R50. It's not going to get you anything.

Please don't listen to the children, they just dont want to put in the time or the effort, you already ruined the battle jobs by increasing SP gain. the fact is your trying to cater for 2 types of people and until you realise its just not possible these forums will be filled with "it's unfair" or "I don't like it" and "it's to hard"←(which by the way is my personal favourite). I like the crafting system and many others do to, sure it could do with a little spice here and there but that doesn't mean it should be easier. So please don't run to Yoshida with every since crying post, till people post interesting ways to make it "BETTER"

It's actually the children who have the selective traits of low-skills and lots of time, who petition for Korean grinding.
Higher-quality players know this simplistic garbage is a waste of their talent and skill.

Stop thinking about your own affinity to play ****ty games for hundreds of hours, and how that can benefit you, and start thinking about the health of the game. Then the devs will listen to you.

I mean if you're just a hardcore player striking that hardcore posture, come on. They've already dealt with you.

This was the only logical conclusion that could be drawn by competent developers. I'm sorry if you don't like that obvious conclusion.

Well i'll be honest and say that I stoped reading after the Rep's post but I just want to say my opinion about the crafting and Peregrine's solution. While I do not think auto-leveling would solve everything, I think that it could be a solution for skilling up purposes. In order to make HQ items, you would have to go through the mini-game to try and get the max quality possible to HQ.

If you think about it, that would make it more fun and profitable to level a craft I think. Like Peregrine said, the crafting leveling would be determined by either the money you spend on the mats (that would be more expensive in this system) or the time you spent to gather the mats yourself. The money you spend is money that you gathered spending time doing quests or leves or farming. So basically your crafting leveling progress is rewarded by the time you spent gathering the mats yourself or gathering gils to afford them. It's a bit streamlined like the crafting in WoW where you set the number of crafts you make depending on the mats you got on you, but still with more depth since you could opt for a manual craft if you want to try your hand at HQ.

That way you make it fair and less boring to grind up your levels, and you make it challenging (they would need to improve a bit the mini-game) when trying to HQ items. It's a win-win situation I think.

Also, like the OP said, it will not suddenly create a bunch of rank 50 crafters since they will still be limited if they don't farm their mats or buy them at a higher price.

Yup, the concept that it will "ruin the market" is absurd. It will make the market what it should always have been where the people who level crafts aren't simply the after school specials or the unemployed with the most time, but the people with the most market sense will be able to make crafting into a better thing than...this.

Let the real crafters craft. Let the people taking advantage of crafting's deficiencies as their advantage...I dunno. Find a job.

Ultimately this is about people who don't want an honestly illegitimate weedout process removed from their arsenal to stay ahead of other players. They will say they would like a fun crafting system as well, but they know that's impossible if not highly improbable, and that essentially they just don't want other people crafting, by any means necessary, even if it makes the game terrible.

And it is terrible. 250 hours of nothing but hitting the enter button...that's just straight poinless darwin selection pressure, and the animals that come out of the other end look RIDICULOUS.

First one to come out of Darwin's pipeline was an unemployed 27 year old.
Second one is a 18 year old Japanese guy who went into atrial fibrillation four times from caffeine and lack of sleep.
Tied for second was a robot. Wow. Not even freaking organic good job.
Third one to come out was someone who watches TV while hitting the enter button.
Fourth one is a memory controller who wow doesn't have to hit the enter button any more.

Bad games select bad players to play them. Or in this case, they're not even playing it.

Only reason RMT don't all have rank 50 crafts and are just DESTRONYING anyone who thinks they're a somebody in this topic is because your crab-bow getting is innefective at gil generation. It's all about the rank 38 alchemist. No mas.

What is a "real crafter", in your opinion? No sarcasm. I'm asking an honest question. What actions should a real crafter be doing when he or she is crafting in FFXIV?

Good, the current system is stressful and boring. I really hope the minigame changes significantly. Plus I hate how you never see the item you're making. Come on, it's 2011. Start modelling this stuff!

Again, auto leveling will never happen. Ever. A system that allows you to walk away from the game and allow you to get SP is just stupid. Why play the game? Not to mention many players won't be able to 'afford' crafting all the way up to 50, but whats' to stop anyone that has 'little time to play the game', due to work or whatever, from just buying gil and leveling a craft to 50 afk? Sure if people are gunna buy gil, they're gunna buy gil but allowing people to just afk to 50 will completely ruin the game.

They already commented they want to make crafting less tedious and I see that in the form of an instant synth(one animation for a NQ item) option. It'll cut the time way out of the equation while still requiring you to sit at the computer to level. I duno how you could ask for much more. Crafting will never be fun, it'll always be a grind, and it will always cost a lot of money to max it out. It's the way it's always been, always will be, and always should be. I don't like the current system(hours of tv watching to keep me from falling asleep) but what else(aside from instant synth and lolafkautoleveling) could be done? Crafting while trying to ride a peiste to get bonus SP?
