well even if they nerf the previous content for these players, they will still have a hard time with the new ones. so nothing really lost here.

Well, for the people that do dugneons old content will be useless regardless due to the so called "vertical progression".
And they nerf em so people quit QQing and lazy or not so skilled people can see the content as well.
It's pretty common nowadays. In case you haven't noticed it's all pretty casual!
P.S.: (hint) They'll still complain.
Exactly this.
Yoshida deliver what he promised since the beta
This is from an interview in september
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...=1#post1322772f; Lets go one more, you mentioned before that the difficulty will be eased over time, will this be done with new gears, or is the actually difficulty of the content going to be eased, how is this going to be done?
y; We have quest instanced battles where you fight with NPC’s, once you die couple times you get a buff, it will be something like that. So once it’s eased, players will get protection from the crystal and get a buff which should make it easier.
f; So as time passes it’s going to get easier and easier
y; yes
f; So it’s safe for the players to think that they will be able to go there one of these days?
y; yes, it will be that way. We’re saying we’re going to expand on The Binding Coil of Bahamut but not being able to progress even before that isn’t good.
y; I have said this every time but, FFXIV ARR just started and this Binding Coil of Bahamut is like a mountain in which no one have climbed before, as time goes on this mountain will have hills which makes it into more of a hiking course.
y; Once at the top you’ll have another higher mountain, so those really into challenging will lead up front of everyone, while everyone else follow up later on through the hiking course.
y; If you try to do too much ahead of everyone, you’re going to feel heart broken many times (because of the difficulty)
y; Dev team’s heart broke so many times
This is what they do in some wayThey have created different modes for primal fights, I wonder why they don't consider taking that route.
Coil can work like, they release the (extreme mode) first, then come 2.2 they release the (story mode) version of it, but at least keeping the option to do that harder version of coil and maybe omit some loot between the two.
In the current coil you can get the body, weapon and legs, but in story mode those pieces of loot are not obtainable unless you do the original version of coil.
2.0
Hard Mode: Coil 1-5
2.2
story Mode: Coil 1-5
Hard Mode: Coil 6-9

And bad players who pays the same amount as you do somehow is less deserving of experiencing main story content? The way you use "casual" is very misleading. What you're trying to say is "bad players". Yes, content should be lucked from you until you improve enough to clear it, so that there isn't the constant problem of "farm" groups not getting a single clear or people going into coil and don't speak a word.
I play casually (<20 hours a week) but I can clear difficult content because I learn how to play.
It's funny how people totally misunderstand how the echo buff (the only nerf more or less confirmed in t1-5 yet) works...
It won't magically put you on a 2 shot twintania... you'll get the normal difficulty first (for people who win and peole who like challenge) and THEN after some wipes, you'll get the buff to help you. where exactly is the super casu mode ?
I agree partly with this, i for example didnt beat t5 yet, not because i tried but cant, but just because i did other things... Whenever i hit T5 i'd like it to be with the originial difficulty, but now that they announced a nerf, i have to race against time to beat it before they nerf it. a Better solution would be to have a nerf version while keeping the normal one up... That way I still have to option to do so even after 2.2.
just click the buff away and enter it with equip not higher than average ilevel 90I agree partly with this, i for example didnt beat t5 yet, not because i tried but cant, but just because i did other things... SE would greatly benefit from not summarizing what Yoshi-P says. As for "nerf" of turns 1-5, Yoshi-P said: "Yes, you will need to clear turn 5 to enter [turn 6], however with the patch release, the gear level will increase making it easier to clear [turn 5]." So that sounds like you will be able to avoid new gear and still have the same difficulty.
However, he also said: "we have a new system where players can clear easier, so with that please defeat Twintania and try this new dungeon."... To me that still sounds optional, but SE rarely puts the details in writing.

So if a bad player can't beat Final Fantasy X (or any other single-player RPG), they're just as deserving to make it to the ending because they paid for the game?
OP, you just said that you can one-shot Titan weekly with no deaths. How would nerfing that content make it less fun? It's already something you can do without thinking. For most people who have been doing Coil this whole time, we're like that, too. Coil goes smoothly, quickly and relatively dully by in a short period of time.
What about the folks who can't do it? Don't they deserve a chance? Maybe they aren't as good as you or other players. They still pay for the game. They should still get a chance to see the content. Not everybody likes games to be challenging, either; this is especially prevalent among RPG fans who prefer to win through grinding rather than win through skill.
Yes.
And they can, as single-player games have these things called "difficulty settings," "cheat codes," "save game editors," and "debug consoles."
I swear, it's like the lot of you have forgotten that we're supposed to play games for fun! Why... so... serious?!
