Honestly, if you have to keep trying to incentivize people to play a particular role, you should re-evaluate your design.
People shouldn't be encouraged to trudge through, doing something they don't enjoy just because they want the shinies.

All I got from that was no weekly lockout on coils turns 1 through 5 meaning we can farm that till the cows come home to get i90 gear sets. Personally as a tank who's barely seen any Allagan Plate this makes me excited sure it's gonna become common but that artwork is amazing.

Most of you need to just stop with the "ideas" you have. Most are not good ones and further separate the community. People wanted coil with no lockouts and in df - you got it. People wanted new content - you got it.
Putting certain loot in one version and different loot in another is silly ala wow raid finder - no thanks.

I'm not a "hardcore" or someone who analyzes all aspects of MMO design, but it seems to me that Tank is the most difficult role. That doesn't mean other classes are "easy", but that tank is a leader of sorts and must maintain control at the heart of every battle or the whole party fails. That's a lot of pressure that many would choose not to put themselves under in a game (i.e. entertainment), or at least not as their first or second class choice, especially not first-timers as they learn the game.
DD can miss a rotation and (sometimes) the battle just goes on a little longer. Tank misses something and the healer gets 3-shot and there's a wipe. (For that matter, healer has a fairly key role as well, which is why it's sometimes the "bonus role" on duty roulette.)
TL;DR: It's not a game design issue, it seems like a people design issue.![]()

wat.
i only saw one nerf hammer, and that was for coil. everything else just gets easier because of gear.
and they even said they were going to do that when the game launched :/

Yoshi-P said that Leviathan would be difficult and the weapon item level would match that.
So by OPs logic Yoshi-P is saying to expect an expansion pack released mid 2014. Is that correct?
No, really, I have no idea how you came to that conclusion from what you linked.
I will just go ahead and explain what he was saying there since some of you seem extremely confused. He is basically saying that playing XIV in his free time and testing it as his job is burning him out. Not sure how content nerfs were pulled out of that.Q30: Do you have any secrets you can’t tell Yoshi-P?
A30: I’m pretty deep into FFXIV and playing for both pleasure and work is pretty difficult, so I find myself wanting to ask if I can have a break. I just keep this to myself.

You want to experience Coil as it is today (other than ease of access via DF) then just disable your own damned Buff. Or better yet, just make your own premade party for disabling the buff.
As for the new Tomestone, I think these areas (ONLY) will drop them:
Crystal Tower
Ruins of Amdapor
Extreme Trials
Coil Turns 1, 2, 4, 5
Coil2 Turns 6, 7, 8, 9
Maybe having the new tomes in Hard Mode Dungeons and Pharos Sirius.
Recycled content yay...

This makes the most sense to me.let's see this in another way, someone join the game at the 2.2, the game have a vertical progression... do you want to force him to farm 3 month for be able to reach the content of the 2.2? when the 2.3 will be out?
yoshida have said something really right, when people will do this content in the 2.2, they will have more respect for the people that have done it before... they will be like pioneer. like the one that have kill twintania before 2.1.
other point, it will not affect you, since you already have finish this content... then who care?
all i see is a trouble of ego, why people can do it easily when i have work hard for do it... it's unfair... and i don't want the other to be like me! no no no! i'm the best! i'm the king of the mountain!!!
well you see the point... why get soo serious about what the other do, focus on what you do. and stop to be jealous of the other.
I like to help members who have not clear content yet, clear them, so when I revisit the fight, I like to have fun. The nerf AK and King Mog fight makes me sad now whenever I do them.

It's funny how the same people that made it a point to defend the outrageous housing prices because of how much "effort" it involved and how it was long lasting content and a good "long term goal" are now defending making content accessible for people who just started playing the game, nice to see hardcore fans have their priorities straight and will keep vouching for this game no matter how contradicting their arguments are.
