Healer horror story when I was tanking my first-ever run through Halatali with a DF. I was a little slow getting into my groove and I apparently let our CNJ take a little more attention than they thought they should have been subject to, on our very first pull. The CNJ quit the party after we downed the Doctore in the first threesome.

...so we finished the run with 3 party members (did not replenish) - me as GLD (I warmed into my groove); a truly excellent sync'd BRD; and for healing... the party Arcanist (running Emerald Carby!). I wish I could remember the ACN's name. She did a great job with what she had to work with.

Was this back in September or October? Cause this exact thing happened to me.. I think I was the bard in your group. The funny thing was, I had no idea what was going on, nor why the other dps was able to step in and heal for us. I was a complete noob just struggling not to screw up.

Hmm, its weird to see so many stories about brax...about sleeps being interrupted and such. i've cleared it several times with no mob being slept, they were all on the tank (with white gear lv 30)

i guess its all up to the tank in these kind of cases, then

I don't know if this is true for all but every time I que in for Brayflox long stop by myself I have the bad luck of being partied up with retard tanks almost everything you think can go wrong does. Last night this pal proceeded to think that he doesn't have to use flash or pretty any of his abilities and that my job is to constantly cure him blaming his deaths on my. Sorry butt head but I don't have infinite mp.

the MP issue yeah but because of the DPS. they get into every cone aoe the boss in there has. screw them omg

as for the tank, wouldnt know but most likely yeah. i have only encountered 1 bad tank so far, and he never used aggro (on hatali though) it was the last time i left tanking to "luck" and always come with a tanker to DF

It was probably late September or early October, yes! I remember, the bosses were pretty easy, but the trash mobs... I'd pull and we'd kill ALL BUT ONE and I'd die... then I would run back and we'd kill the one that was left, and keep going. Finished with very little time on the clock and you would have said something like "I didn't think we had any chance at finishing!". Me neither, but we did it.

I'm a i85 PLD, and pretty good tank.

I decided to take up my next role as a WHM, since I already leveled for SS. I'm a 50 full DL WHM now. I jump into DF roulette and score PS. The tank in there is forewarned I've never healed in this one before, but lets give it a go. He and the DPS were all for it.

After we near wipe on some mobs getting to the boss (I was not doing so hot on the tank heals, even spamming Cure II), before we enter, he says, quite politely, "Well, I think we can give this a shot, but not sure if the DPS is enough. Oh, and you probably should not be in clerical stance...."

Ugh. Total noob healer....

Aww... Good Ol' Cleric Stance.... Happens even to the best of us (and the rest of us too)

I haven't experienced that much horror in my short time as WHM. Thought I would try out healing since I got kind of bored of DPSing, and Dah-DuM! I'm loving it, haven't even tried on the DRG set for weeks. Most of the time I've been lucky with DF and even when I'm not, it's all the more experience. Been through good and bad tanks and DDs, but we've always managed to complete the duty.

There was this one time I was doing Ifrit. And one of the DPS goes: you know you don't have to heal me cause I GOT CURE. ................I was a bit baffled. It was when I was just starting out too, and got so confused I just stared at the chat box in disbelief. Totally zoned out for a while until I realized, OH SHOOT!, we got wiped x)

Weird stuff, but I guess that's what you get in low lvl DF...

Got into a random AK run, the dps were so low and I was losing mp from healing for longer than any other average run I've had. Finally someone asked me if I could help dps by switching to cleric stance. I've managed to help dps plus heal (switching CS on and off) on three bosses - pop a couple of shrouds. We had a couple of wipes but I carried on and completed the duty, I felt kind of sorry for them as they needed the gear + tomes more than I did, all I needed was myth for my +1.

Ever since then I never pug AK ever again, it has always been FC runs.

My friend who is trying out healing now asked me if I ever felt offended by DPS choosing to heal themselves instead of letting you do it. I told him it depended on the situation. If the healer is struggling and you notice, then go ahead. If the healer is managing just fine though, then the DPS is doing 2 things. 1) He's gimping his own DPS and is prolonging the fight and therefore how much the healer has to heal and 2) he's telling the healer that he doesn't trust the healer. Yes I do get offended. You might think you're doing me a favor as a DPS by healing yourself but you're really not. x.X Leave healing to healers please except in emergencies.
