An Open Letter to Yoshida-san: What can I do with a house?

Greetings,

If you are concerned about being able to partake in the future content planned for housing, specifically the ability to build airships and such in small houses since they do not have a basement, please do not worry! While we can't get into the details, small houses will also be able to do this.

We'll be sure to let you know more details moving forward!

SQE tells us "not to worry", "to look forward" or "be excited for" in regards to a lot of things; Most of those things come back to bite us. For all we know "being able to do this" means that they just expect smaller FC's to mooch off the workshops that larger FC's have and call that a feature.

You (SQE) need to start being far more open about what you have planned for the game. Not just what you want to do but how you want to do it; A lot of people who were a lot less cynical about the company (or game) than I am are starting to waver. Don't take those people for granted.

So, what do you do with the small house ? open a shop w/o craft station and cant build boat or airship ?

The houses sizes we have right now are great for personal housing, which is what these lots seem to actually be for. But, FC housing needs XL and XXL housing, which would make sense Uldah (which I would prefer living in big apartment style housing? in that city over a suburban home like it is in The Goblet) and Revanent's Toll since that seems to be the go to hub for adventurers in FF14. I also agree that the lot sizes and yard space should be increased, but not before making FC-only housing areas.

It would also be great to be able to get multiple housing plans. I would really love a two-story with basement house in the style of the tree house that the main character of the Legend of Mana video game on the PS1 lived in, which would be great for Gridania! You just have to admit that it would fit in aesthetically with that area!

Oh, it will most likely be that most of the house (70-90%) will be the actual workshop for your airship. It should be a real cool thing to see when someone enters your house. You'll literally be living and sleeping in the same house as your baby!

I'm super confused about housing. So only a free company can purchase a house? Individual players cant? Seems pretty lame to me, i wanted my own cottage I could decorate!

I think you'll find that most small, and some medium, FC houses will be purchased by the FC owner without collecting donations once housing takes off, making it their own cottage that FC members have access to.

Actually no, i've played quite a few MMO's.

It's unfortunate, but with SQE's track record so far, they can talk, bluster or promise all they want about the features that will come out, but they've talked up their features in the past only to do the exact opposite when feature release comes out; So anything they say until release date for anything is just smoke.

A lot of people think small houses are currently too small for even small FCs (~8 member), but SE apparently doesn't. They are drastically lowering prices (50%) to encourage FCs to buy them. The originally 8 million gil small will have a new "starting price" of 4M late Feb, and by that time the houses that have been for sale since December will have prices that have fallen down to around 2.3M.) Plus we have no idea what personal housing will even look like. (An instanced room? An instanced yard+house? Over 200 wards per city?)

As for the rep response, I'm glad SE has offered at least a little cause to hope that small houses won't be left out of any FC housing content. Now if SE can just double that square footage, they might start selling a few. (Each wards has twice as many small houses as medium+large combined, so smalls should need to be quite a lot more popular than now.)

..Am I the only one that's still trying to figure out what this means? Airships? Like personal Airships? Like Airships that we will be able to control and literally fly in the skies of Eorzea?


...and...."and such" ? are we going to be making sea ships too?
