I would like too see 2 things.

A very open vanity system, alltho SE dont want mages running about in heavy armor they should keep it well open to allow gathering/crafting gear and maybe leather for mages.

The 2nd thing would be the ability to dye all pieces of gear including endgame ones.

Thing is it has to be fair, if tanks can wear anything but plate /mail (maybe) then mages should be able to wear some plate stuff... I don't want a tin can armor, but some nice plate gloves, or mail mixed with fine clothes and leather makes for a very nice suit, a realistic. Because mails arent that big of an issue if it's the right kind, and light. Anyway.

My thought on this is SE can go shove it. They should let people wear what they want in a vanity system.

My only wish is to be dressed like a maid wearing high end raiding gear.

Well, a maid outfit is apparently coming with the Valentione's (Valentine's) Day event next month (artwork of it was shown in a Live Letter last year with 'Valentione's Day' listed on it), although you could always use one of the crafting apron outfits as a stopgap. /approves

I agree with one of the posters above. RIFT has easily one of the best vanity systems available.

I want it wide open though, no limit to what you can put in your vanity slots and I will be extremely disappointed if they pull the Tera crap and require you to transmog and destroy gear to do vanity appearances.

I'd just like to see something where any DoWar class can use any DoWar armor, any DoMagic class can use any DoMagic armor. And then any silly costumes for everybody.

I'm actually kind of against Plate for casters, kind of would take away some of my immersion to see a BLM in Darksteel.

Aside from that, I'd kind of like to see a system where you can convert any piece of armor into a stat-less vanity piece that can be put into a specific piece of armor to change its skin. To remove it, it would cost something like 700 gil and you would get to put it in something else for free. I can certainly see the problems with multi-job armor, though - so I could see this not happening.

Another great idea was EQ1, where they sold vanity weapons and armor for about $1.50 each, or had you do a semi-difficult quest to get the coolest vanity armor. Its times like these I wish there was more to Eorzea.

Maybe the "Maelstrom" (2.2) is going to add a new set of zones with level 55-60 monsters and some cool new places to explore and hang out!

While Coliseum gear is great for laughs, especially those few levels you wear it as an actual upgrade, I think *most* people have other looks they'd prefer. I am a big fan of the Bliaud (there is one particular one I like, can't remember which) and the Acolyte Skirt (which covers more than the Coliseum gear or the WHM AF pants).

If they do this, it'll be the worst thing they can do. Given how long it can take you to get some of the gear, if you decide to change your mind, you essentially have to go out and farm/acquire it again if you want to be able to change your appearance periodically.

I think a "simple" vanity system would also be easiest to implement; you have your real paperdoll with the gear that gives you stats and your vanity paperdoll. If you have an item in your vanity paperdoll slot, it overrides the appearance of your real paperdoll. If you have an item on your real paperdoll that uses two slots (feet/legs) and only put one item in your vanity paperdoll (legs), it would show the other as if you had nothing there (so no boots in this example). I have to imagine this is leagues easier than having to keep track of every item name + stats with everyone's particular "look" for the item.

Knowing how fond Squee is of arbitrary restrictions and weird design choices, that's exactly what they will not do. Instead, we'll get the transmog crap.

Hopefully I'm wrong and they will copy Rift's vanity system. And while I'm dreaming, I'd like a flying pony who breathes fire and Guild Wars 2 dye system.
