Hey, I'm on Cactuar too. My FC is looking for a designated tank. If you're unaffiliated we always have a space open.

i have no issue yet as a tank.
just have to know position & make things hit you.
Wow someone is actually asking desensitized people to be nice? That's actually funny.
This thread = Crowning Moment of Awesome.
Makes me want to transfer to Cactuar just to be on the same world as Mac![]()
This happens a lot. As a tank I say its better to take a moment and see how well gear your team mates are before rushing and taking the whole dungeon on your back. Not all parties can stand the so called "Speed runs".playing my Bard.. love the duty finder sound when I FINALLY get a dungeon after waiting an hour.. "God, That took forever.. wooo WP!!" Tank runs in, doesn't even wait for protect, Starts mashing a mob with blinders on. 3 mobs beeline to healer after he casts cure1, healer drops. I'm DPSing the shoot out of mobs on the healer trying to gain damage agro after seeing the tank isn't paying attention. Tank starts cursing at healer crying the team sucks and quits..
As a tank I have been pretty lucky overall with the duty finder. I try to be pleasant, say hi, ask if everyone is ready. If anything I am overly cautious on my pulls normally. I have been fortunate to have most of my groups be nice when I am new in a dungeon. However, within the past month of play I have noticed an increasing level of negativity from others. I loved this post, and I am glad to see your thoughts mirror mine in most points!
I would also like to say this. I have been leveling other classes to learn their mechanics, and because we have an over abundance of tanks in my small free company. As a tank we usually stand in a specific spot and do our thing. DPS and healers both have to move around a lot. By doing this I have to say I have a lot of respect for those who are dps. Dodging the crap, casting a long casting spell and moving JUST before the stuff hits the proverbial fan.. kudos to you guys! Also kudos to the healy types for keeping us up and running in spite of ourselves.
No, I am not a ilvl 90 paladin. I am only Ilvl69. However, if you are on Goblin and need a friendly and patient hand look me up! I am more than happy to help you. The only thing I ask in return is.. have FUN! This is a game, after all =D
some tanks are simply too slow, they spend all their time talking about strategies when perhaps all they needed to do was proceed and tank.playing my Bard.. love the duty finder sound when I FINALLY get a dungeon after waiting an hour.. "God, That took forever.. wooo WP!!" Tank runs in, doesn't even wait for protect, Starts mashing a mob with blinders on. 3 mobs beeline to healer after he casts cure1, healer drops. ugh FML..
playing my Paladin.. Duty finder sound makes me wince when it goes off 3 seconds after I click find duty.. "Oh God.. That was too fast.. Everyone is going to be cool this run.. DPS won't frontload.. Healer won't overheal.. It's gonna be ok.."
Wait for protect, try and explain my party dynamics and start marking mobs. Bard runs off, AOE, starts dumping damage into mob 2. Lancer is at mob one jumping like a gnat in heat. I rush to the middle of it spamming flash, shield lob and trying to regain enmity with combos. healer is going ape-snot crazy trying to heal 3 people. bard"lol tank sucks" lancer"lawl noob" Bard runs off and pulls again with AOEs.
ugh FML..
I get some good groups, don't get me wrong, they're just not the majority..
This is how to tank :
A) look at players health . If someone has really low health inspect , they probably suck , quit group if they are in grey items for obvious reasons .
B) After buff at start proceed to move very quickly to the first mobs , pull as fast as you can as long as healer can keep up which will be apparent when you have to start popping cooldowns due to healer falling behind on heals.
C) Don't talk strat just pull boss and assume everyone knows or will learn very quickly during fight . If you wipe someone always comes up with some master plan on how to beat mob.
D) Move fast , and efficiently , don't waste time typing in chat . Beat dungeon , collect your commendation points for fast flawless run and log off till next day.
Ive been attacked by DPS a few times and I generally say the same thing to them, shut up or leave. I'll replace you in seconds, whereas you'll be waiting an hour to replace me.
If the DPS doesn't fall in line, leave and re-queue.
