Wait for protect, try and explain my party dynamics and start marking mobs. Bard runs off, AOE, starts dumping damage into mob 2. Lancer is at mob one jumping like a gnat in heat. I rush to the middle of it spamming flash, shield lob and trying to regain enmity with combos. healer is going ape-snot crazy trying to heal 3 people. bard"lol tank sucks" lancer"lawl noob" Bard runs off and pulls again with AOEs.

ugh FML..

I get some good groups, don't get me wrong, they're just not the majority..

I can relate. I went from sobbing hysterically waiting for the pop to actually being annoyed when it pops too quickly. Grass is always greener, and whatnot.

Jack Macallen, I love your posts. Your writing style is great and you make a lot of great points. It's the way you do it that makes these threads so entertaining to read. They are informative while also being quite funny.

On topic, being a healer when I find a good tank I tend to stick with him like a pit bull on a poodle. No homo intended, but I'm in firm belief that a good healer needs a good tank and good tank needs a good healer. The dps are great but they can usually be filled with x variables since there are so many to choose from.

Tank AND Healer are usually thankless jobs and the first ones to blame when things go wrong. However, tanks need healers and we (healers) need you (tanks).

Also, the person who posted after you has a point as well. Some tanks are outright assholes on this game. It is because they are self-entitled and since the queue is nothing for them they get to hold the group hostage.

This is spot on, which is why it's so frustrating when the tank refuses to co-operate. Of course DPS are needed too, but the tank and the healer are almost linked together. I keep you alive, you keep enemies off of me. Then while we're doing that the DPS kill everything. If only it was that simple. *sigh*

This happens a lot. As a tank I say its better to take a moment and see how well gear your team mates are before rushing and taking the whole dungeon on your back. Not all parties can stand the so called "Speed runs".

some tanks are simply too slow, they spend all their time talking about strategies when perhaps all they needed to do was proceed and tank.

This is how to tank :

A) look at players health . If someone has really low health inspect , they probably suck , quit group if they are in grey items for obvious reasons .

B) After buff at start proceed to move very quickly to the first mobs , pull as fast as you can as long as healer can keep up which will be apparent when you have to start popping cooldowns due to healer falling behind on heals.

C) Don't talk strat just pull boss and assume everyone knows or will learn very quickly during fight . If you wipe someone always comes up with some master plan on how to beat mob.

D) Move fast , and efficiently , don't waste time typing in chat . Beat dungeon , collect your commendation points for fast flawless run and log off till next day.

Funny you say that. When HM Copperbell Mines came out, I ran it a few times with FC members before proceeding to use duty finder roulette. I stopped in an effort to explain the first boss as it was likely others first or second attempt at the boss. A BLM promptly told me to "STFU and tank".

I did just that. Pulled the boss, adds, everything clear to the end. When we wiped, the BLM had the nerve to ask what happened. I responded, "You told me to STFU and tank and so I did. You failed to STFU and dps." I apologized to the other dps and healer as they hadn't been there and appreciated me communicating what to expect on the next attempt. Dungeon went smooth from there on out.

I know they may have their reasons, but so far the most toxic players I've ran across are tanks.

I'll disagree. I've seen a few toxic tanks and healers, but toxic dps are far more common for me to run across.
