    The drops are only (quotations) "rare" because the loot pools are so utterly bloated. You can't really call it rare when your raid group doesn't see any DRG pieces drop EVER but a different group in your FC sees nothing BUT DRG pieces drop. I know it's generally your stance to stick up for SE at every corner, but come on... This loot system is getting old fast.

    the only thrill is in the first kill.

    8 Twintania kills with a set group of 8 people and seeing 3 PLD Swords and 3 MNK Fists is not thrilling for the healers or casters.

    Going into a dungeon with everything pre-selected is kind of....lame.

    No suspense, no urge to try again, no rewarding sensation like you actually deserve it. Just "Here you go, come back again!".

    Wow yes so exciting to go months without getting loot while the guy next to you is all decked out! No, that's frustrating and it turns people away. While it may take away the sense of..."suspense" for some people, I believe it is the lesser of the two evils here. As it stands, it just isn't fair to people who put in months of hard work with nothing to show for it while the lucky get everything they want in weeks. Regardless, with a token system such as the one I pointed out earlier, there would still be that sense of "suspense" as to weather or not the one for your class would drop. I really don't see any valid argument against it.

    Am i the only one that sees the real issue isn't the fact that there is RNG but the fact that coil has both lockout and RNG.....

    I much prefer RNG in a game but being locked out is whats making this so retarded.

    My problem is that it has way too much loot squeezed in 8 chest (6 for people who can't clear Twintania).
    Our group keeps dropping monk loot... no one plays monk. So it's wasted loot. Tokens would solve this issue.

    Come on, your not even trying to be reasonable now...You can't really say in this game that you run a dungeon or raid 10 times and get nothing for it. Mythology pieces are there for that exact reason.

    Anyways, regardless of what system is used, the Dev team will include some form of a way to prevent you from completing your set in a timely fashion because that is what's used to create the carrot on a stick mentality. This is the fundamental cause of your complaints for loot, and this is never going to go away.

    Also, last I checked, the token system from WoW only applied to primary gear pieces. The RNG system for the rest of the slots is far more punishing towards those looking for a specific item. No Dev team would be insane enough to allow it's player base the ability to gear players out with BiS in an effective way. That would just be too easy then.

    It's only one loot system. Not every content uses it. We have the relic weapons where you choose your reward in advance, complete the quest, and get the reward. Then we have the once a week ex primal quest where you get a weapon of your choice (IN ADDITION to random drops from the bosses themselves). Then we have the mytho and philosophy tomes which also let you get the items you want when you want, as fast as you can earn them.

    Lots of people played FFXI and killed the HNMs over and over for rare drops. And while I'm not a big fan of FFXI's HNMs, there are people who want that content in this game, so random loot isn't going away. You're lucky that you get 2 items from every turn every time, if it was FFXI, you'd be lucky to get anything at all.
