Why I stopped paying for FFXIV

Playing from New Zealand (300 ping)
Battleping (160 ping)

VPN makes a huge difference, I always ALWAYS dodge stuff with Battleping enabled.

It's a shame that I have to pay for 2 services (ffxiv+battleping) just to enjoy this game, where as games like WoW I have no problem dodging stuff and my ping is 150 without a VPN...

Would be nice if they worked closer with ISP's to sort this problem out, unfortunately Square doesn't care so I'll have to continue paying for VPN.

You think they don't care? That's ridiculous. WoW has servers all over the world. Square has server in Canada and Japan only. In that situation you find it suprising that from New Zealand has a worse connection to FFXIV than WoW? OBVIOUSLY it will have a worse connection. This isn't a single indication that they don't care at all, and is instead just a prime example of you jumping to conclusions just because you're having a bad time. You have absolutely no idea what they do or don't care about or what they are trying to do behind closed doors. Not a single person here does.

Answer: Elder Scrolls Online Beta Weekend. I, and many others here, had the Beta invite. I almost spent all weekend playing it instead of FFXIV. (Almost) You can't keep putting your head in the sand to ignore the most obvious and plausible answer possible.

seems i missed out on my free beta weekend invite .. thats why a already running game offers a free week end to keep ppl playing the game for the weekend of a free beta test.. numbskull # 2

1. If the red circles were client side instead of server side this wouldn't be an issue.
2. I've noticed that wired/wireless makes a difference.
3. I've noticed that if my wife and I are both playing Titan HM, she has a terrible time getting out of plumes, she'll be far out of them, but still get hit, I know because I watch her screen. I don't notice since I'm tank, and don't have to dodge. When playing alone she has zero issues on same hardware.
4. I'm on a squeaky clean network with plenty of bandwidth with an above average firewall, so multiple packets coming from one IP must confuse SE servers, or are not serviced correctly.
5. Game is too reliant on dodge, rather than skill. IMO

You sound like half the customers that call into my job saying "some of my customers in Pakistan said that the web page loads slow. Fix it" cause that's a lot of info to work with there....

I swear people must believe that their computer is connected to a wall that is just 1 big long cable to the server they are connecting too. And it's always gotta be the servers fault because they pay for internet so it must work fine.

This is the only game in my gigantic library of PC games that lags. Yet somehow there are a bunch of people in here trying to defend SE by saying it's our ISP or it's somewhere on the route to the servers.

Stop being a fanboy, it's their servers/network. They really need to fix it. People leaving due to latency affects you as well. People have a right to be upset when they can't even get a decent connection in a subscription based game.

I do not always deal with latency but it is there when the traffic picks up/more players log on.

*We are all on the same team here. We all like playing this game. Some people are having serious latency issues and SE needs to fix it.

No, then the hackers would just edit the client data so they never get hit. It's server side for a reason.

Have you even watched this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z37IY1XkLDI and tried adding the registry keys to the appropriate connection? If not, you should try this.
