    This, the other day I was doing a BSM quest sent me to this ship in Limsa. I ran all the way out on the forward spar and just sat there wishing I could jump off and swim back

    Yoshi has actually addressed the possibility of swimming in the future, so it may come about eventually.

    He also talked about how the first two expansions will be Sea and Sky themed, and he was undecided on which to do first. Things related to swimming may come about with the Sea expansion.
