Um, no. DF/Roulette are for experiencing content and helping newcomers. If you want speed runs you need to create your own group, not expect it from everyone on DF. Roulette helps newer players, it isn't for "OMG EASY TOMES". Kicking someone for enjoying content is bs.

No, roulette is a bribe for higher level players to play the content that newer players havent dont yet. It's basically done in response to high queue times for DPS, since it was more time efficient to run WP over and over for the same philo tomes Prae/CM gave + myth. That said, I usually heal on the daily main scenerio, I dont mind if you watch cutscenes, but if the rest of the group runs on, Im not about to start letting people die.

Can you show me where in DF it says expect speedruns? Why do you think SE put the cutscenes in there? You think some developer was sitting there going "heh, this will tick off players doing this dungeon for the xth time. Heh heh" They put them there for people playing the main story to see.

Vote kick is a majority vote intended for a few purposes (3). I don't see watching cutscenes or player not fast enough for me as any reasons on the kick screen. If you want players with all the same mindset you need to make your own party, not ask DF to do it for you. A group of randoms is going to have a variety of players, someone shouldn't be kicked for enjoying the story. If you are high level and do not want to wait for people watching cutscenes then either make your own group or don't sign up for CM/prae runs, there are plenty of other farming options.

Who's genius idea was it to put 5-minutes cutscenes before/after bosses?

I paid $30 and intend to get what I paid for, but if I sit there and watch the cutscenes for the first time I get kicked from the party. So why even have them to begin with?

As a DPS class it's especially annoying because it takes about an hour just to get back in.

At any time do you let the group know that you plan to watch the CS because it is your first go?

Make your own group in Party Finder with the intention of watching all the cutscenes for first timers. Pay members if you cannot fill the party within a reasonable amount of time. If you want to experience content as it is meant to, you're 3 months late to the party. Don't show up to the MMO late then complain about the consequences of making that decision.

Duty Finder/Roulette are for repeat runs and fast queues.

Furthermore. Anybody queuing into Duty Finder/Roulette without a full party better have some patience as there will be someone new to the game regardless of when they start, so there will be someone watching cutscene. Any douches that kick someone because of them deserves to be reported and punished. Well they wouldnt get the same rewards for making their own party, it would be faster and easier to do a WP speed run for the 100 tomestone reward. A way to solve this? get rid of the extra tomestones for doing it through the roulette, then the people who kick wont have any incentive to run the dungeon each and every day. Of course then we're back where we started with 90+ min dps queues to finish their story.

It's a vicious cycle, people are needed to run these dungeons to get through, so SE gives a rather large incentive to run them, but then it attracts everyone to do it every day so that it becomes routine/boring, and something to get done as soon as possible. So people get mean when others hold them up. This shouldnt have come as a surprise to anyone, they were doing this back when CM speedruns were all the rage.

The thing is very few people do the run to "help" new players, they do it for the 300 tomestones.

The last 2 dungeons rewarding no loot and providing no incentive to go back and do them a second time, yet also being required for the story, seems like bad design to me.

Well, I'm coming up on the last two dungeons here.

I think my gameplan going in is going to be:

1) Ask my FC to run the dungeon with me and let them know it's my first run
2) Set up a Party Finder group indicating that it's my first run

If none of that works, I'll probably just go in with DF and tell everyone upon entering that it's my first run. If anyone objects to me watching the cutscenes, I'll just watch them in my innroom.

As others have said, needs of the many outweigh the wants of the few.



I will say that people have been pretty good (so far) with me watching cutscenes on my first run through dungeons/trials. I guess that the cutscenes are much longer in these last two though, eh?

You can't be any more wrong. It was created to help new players complete content they needed to progress their story. And it's a safe assumption that since it's their first time, they'd like to watch the cutscenes. The bonus associated with it is there to give people an incentive to join up and help them complete said content, at the pace of the new player.

When queuing up for Low Level, you'll be matched for which ever duty is immediately available. This is for both players looking to rechallenge dungeons and also for new players. Although the high level roulette is better for those seeking Allagan tomestones, players who've just hit level 50 but aren't up to challenging higher level duties are welcome to use the low level roulette and save up tomestones at their own pace.

Didn't know this was still a problem. Honestly, I don't give one shiet if you paid 30 bucks for yadayada and I deserve yadayada. You're just stating the obvious. It's just really funny how 6 or the majority voted to kick you out of the party. If you believe those people are abusing the system, then go report them. If you want to enjoy and "expect" the players to "patiently" wait for you, create a party finder and state that you are watching all cutscenes, only if you still have trouble with the DF/Roulettes.
