Just get a screen cap before you announce it, so you know who to report if they do vote kick you.I disagree. If you intentionally queue up for a "story" dungeon or story roulette, you don't go become one of those assholes who vote people out for watching cut scenes. And at least have the decency to wait for them to start a boss fight.
At OP, if you enter any story instance, I would recommend announcing you watch cut scenes right at the beginning so that folks have a heads up. If they're gonna be douches and vote you out then, then at least it's before stuff gets started.
That is messed up. I was lucky and the party I did story dungeons with let me and the others watch the cutscenes. If it keeps being a problem maybe try party finder and put in it that you want to see the cutscenes.
Make your own group in Party Finder with the intention of watching all the cutscenes for first timers. Pay members if you cannot fill the party within a reasonable amount of time. If you want to experience content as it is meant to, you're 3 months late to the party. Don't show up to the MMO late then complain about the consequences of making that decision.
Duty Finder/Roulette are for repeat runs and fast queues.
The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
You are not a special snowflake.
Watch cutscenes in the inn.
Read text quicker.

Um, no. DF/Roulette are for experiencing content and helping newcomers. If you want speed runs you need to create your own group, not expect it from everyone on DF. Roulette helps newer players, it isn't for "OMG EASY TOMES". Kicking someone for enjoying content is bs.Make your own group in Party Finder with the intention of watching all the cutscenes for first timers. Can you show me where it's stated that DF/Roulette are intended for "experiencing" content and helping newcomers? Because last I looked, DF groups you with a bunch of strangers who may have a completely different mindset to your own. The kick function is a majority vote; if the majority vote kicked someone out for watching cutscenes then you can probably assume the mindset of that particular group is to finish the dungeon as fast as possible. As others have already mentioned, if you want to be absolutely sure that you won't be harassed or abused for watching cutscenes, you should utilize the party finder system (which is something more people should use; it's great) and form your own group of like minded individuals instead of rolling the dice and hoping that you land in a group with strangers that are fine with you sitting through every cutscene.Um, no. I'm disgusted in the behavior such as the OP states. Content spammers forcing others into their rushy pace is neither rewarding nor fun. For most of the time as a newb you're simply struggling to keep the pace of the others whilst you learn nothing of the dungeons or the mechanics within at the same time. I see the problem as a sum of four parts:
1) If the game has the mechanics that enable you to be a jerk and trample all over the types that hinder you in any way even if that'd be the intended way for the content, you can be sure some will use those mechanics.
2) Some story dungeons have way too long cutscenes.
3) 8-man party size makes a hefty portion of the people disposable thanks to most being overgeared in duty finder nowadays anyway.
4) Cross-server duty finder makes it easier for you to be a jerk. You don't have to worry about your personal reputation nearly as much as you would if everyone was from the same server.
ARR is one of the only, if not the only MMO where I've seen dungeon design choices like this. It sucks, especially when they put so much effort to the cutscenes. You're basically excluding newcomers and promoting selfish elitism within story-based content this way.
You're told to use the duty finder for the dungeon-specific missions. I'm unsure if the missions can even be completed in any other way. And as far as I know the duty roulette was implemented specifically to help the newcomers have shorter waiting times while dealing with low level dungeon content.

I can show you where "This person doesn't play like us" is an invalid and abusive way of using the vote kick system and is punishable by SE. That's the best I can do, though. Can you show me where it's stated that DF/Roulette are intended for "experiencing" content and helping newcomers? You want speed runs/skip cutscenes? Form a party yourself. Best chances of getting like minded people that can help ensure you can get your stuff done in a timely manner.
You use the DF? Expect people who wants to watch cutscenes or who aren't up to par with what you want from group members. Kicking them because they don't meet your expectations is not valid. So you are going to be stuck with them and all the more reason to form your own group if you want speed runs.
What SE needs to add is a way to know the group members names after they vote kick you so you CAN report them. Unless you screencap every group you join, you'll have no way of knowing who was in the group to report in the first place.

[QUOTE=Deculture;1779004]Can you show me where it's stated that DF/Roulette are intended for "experiencing" content and /snip/QUOTE]
Can you show me where in DF it says expect speedruns? Why do you think SE put the cutscenes in there? You think some developer was sitting there going "heh, this will tick off players doing this dungeon for the xth time. Heh heh" They put them there for people playing the main story to see.
Vote kick is a majority vote intended for a few purposes (3). I don't see watching cutscenes or player not fast enough for me as any reasons on the kick screen. If you want players with all the same mindset you need to make your own party, not ask DF to do it for you. A group of randoms is going to have a variety of players, someone shouldn't be kicked for enjoying the story. If you are high level and do not want to wait for people watching cutscenes then either make your own group or don't sign up for CM/prae runs, there are plenty of other farming options.
No, roulette is a bribe for higher level players to play the content that newer players havent dont yet. It's basically done in response to high queue times for DPS, since it was more time efficient to run WP over and over for the same philo tomes Prae/CM gave + myth. It is more or less, here's a bunch of tomes for helping people finish their storyUm, no. DF/Roulette are for experiencing content and helping newcomers. That said, I usually heal on the daily main scenerio, I dont mind if you watch cutscenes, but if the rest of the group runs on, Im not about to start letting people die.
