I don't really experience that myself, but that is another one yes. I was talking about mainly the the game core mechanics as a whole, not the terrible way the servers were setup.I'll tell you what you missed. Everything on that front page of yours is fine an dandy for good criticism but there is a HIGE amount of us who can't even experience that. You wanna know why? Because we're crippled by both latency issues and terrible routing to go with. Why is there no mention of the latency issues? Or the poor routing between ISP's and this game in certain locations??

Nobody said it had to be stupid hard, but it doesn't need to be mindlessly stupid easy either, but if that's what suits you, that's greatThis is complete bull****
You know how many stories I have about monsters in the fields of FFXI? Zero. I actually like that I can kill everything in the open maps (well except FATE bosses) solo in FFXIV, it means that when I need materials I can go get them myself and that I have the freedom to explore all the open areas.
Getting agro and being capable of killing what agro'd me sure beats the hell out of the "excitement" of knowing that if I got agro in a high level zone in FFXI I'd most likely be dead.
But what they said still holds true.. How many "epic stories" do you have for FFXIV? Not many, and every story I've heard is anything but "epic". Because ultimately in the end it was either latency stuff, stupid teammates, and button mashing.
Totally different story for FFXI. So what they said still holds true, and is anything but bullshit. Even if you don't like how hard FFXI was, and how mindlessly easy FFXIV is.
I must admit at times while progressing through the storyline all I was doing was just skipping the dialogue until it tells me what area I have to go to then kill or take whatever I had to and return. It felt extremely repetitive and the cut scenes I felt were woeful. I also dislike the battle mechanics highly due to the fact I believe it doesn't really take much skill to understand and everyone looks the exact same when attacking or fighting a boss. I like challenges and stuff that will test my skill and for me this game hasn't really tested my skill. With that being said, I still feel that it is an very good game just needs a few things to improve.
I'm far from eccentric, I'm so psychotic...
Those epic stories came from us players triumphing over the walls placed there to drag out the play time. Remember Promys? how each floor could kill you and each floor's exit was randomized (slightly)? That was there just to drag out the content. So any epic story came from the statistically low chance that someone could get caught staring at one of the high hurdles and get out unscathed. In FFXI one big compliant late in its life was that certain fights needed certain jobs in order to win.
One could argue that this mentality forces people to level one of the each side of the trinity in order not to be excluded from content. Like beastmaster? have fun soloing if you only want that to be your job.
Was this memorable? oh yes it was. was it designed in an effort to be memorable? no. it was designed to be a timesink. So with FFXIV we get the lack of a huge time sink, and as a result we get the feeling that we cant make memories.

Yup I know you are, but I feel like this problem does tie into the others outlined. A lot of us can't experience the core mechanics due to frequent rubberbanding (why the servers are in CA for NA I dunno) I feel personally that this and feedback regarding this and other issues should be included as needing a fix. I cannot speak for you all but I can for people in my own spot. I don't know how long we'll be around.
On top of the issues outlined in your topic we're dealing with people in denial of our problems, blame passing, no response in a 170p sticky, and all the stuff you've mention on page 1. I dunno I'm just venting I guess feels like it's all gonna get rug swept anyway. I'm just not masochistic enough to pay someone to make me a sandwich step on it a and then hand it to me. And that is what this service feels like ATM.

While i dont agree with alot of what you have wrote, i am glad you have taken the time to express your concerns in a well written post that with some luck might get noticed by forum moderators and passed along to the higher ups. For that reason alone im likeing your OP to try and help it gain attention.

I agree with pretty much everything you listed. The big thing for me is the sense of adventure. FFXIV has none. The spammy battle system would be an extremely close second. I want things slowed down overall. Everything is just way too fast.

I know the feels. I was on Aegis (JP) in the beta and retail until the free server transfers due to my legacy char originally being on there. Titan probably made me clairvoyant trying to dodge his attacks. It's funny though, there is still a delay even after I xfered to NA servers. I am in Toronto, 500km away from the NA data center, and still see weird synch delays with spells. IE, I'd cast a spell, move when 3/4 of the cast bar is done, and it would still fire.Yup I know you are, but I feel like this problem does tie into the others outlined. Sounds like the connection seemed to have gotten worse, I quit playing quite awhile ago and I never experienced or heard of it much. I wonder if it did get worse.

So many views on this thread.. I wonder if anyone on the dev team has looked at it...
