Good for you for being a hardcore player. Good thing I didn't say that your type wouldn't cap. I'm talking about the people that have a life. The ones that log in for an hour, every other day. The ones that aren't even 50. Why should us hardcore gamers be held back by their lives?

The time I work on myth is about an hour a day. One run through coil, one or two CT depending on luck and our FC does daily maps or double maps every other day. Myth was capped on Thursday with very little effort. They've eased up quite a bit and you can obtain a Zenith relic in two weeks if one desired which shaved off 33% of the wait. The rest of our time we work on other jobs or saving money for housing. It's easy enough to progress without being "hardcore"

I'm not disagreeing with you, capping is easy now. The fact still remains, as the game is out for a longer time, more people are hitting 50. They will have to gear up to catch up to the other 50s. The cap was established for Legacy players to not completely out gear new players. That really isn't the case anymore. The amount of new players, or people under 50 on just one job is a lot lower. They either are super casual or stopped playing. Either way the minority is holding back the majority.

The casuals. You are deluded if you think the hardcore are the majority.

Myth cap as it is fine. If there was no cap, people like you would gear all your jobs in one day, and call it quits. The gap between casuals and hardcore will continue to grow even bigger. Soon, we will have people requesting a minimum of i90 parties to do Ifrit HM. Really? Eventually the casuals decide that they can't keep up anymore,, and they call it quits too. Then all we're left with is about 10 - 20% of the player base, the remaining few hardcore players who still think the game is worth their time then.

I agree that content gating to an extent sucks, but I see it as a necessary evil.

I guess I am deluded, because on Hyperion it seems like there all more people in endgame than anything.

It goes both ways, alot of people would cap out way too fast then be done with the game.

It's a lose/lose situation, if they don't add gates they can't make content as fast as people breeze through it, if they do add caps, people might give up, not wanting to wait.

The best solution (for the short term at least) seems infinite replayability content, such as PvP, mini-games, etc. & content that is less vertical, relying on all brances of content to be viable.
