Being a pansy that needs 7 other people to fight a character that has been introduced as a duelist that challenges people to a 1 on 1 fight to take their weapons, or being "the one" that breaks the duelist's winning streak and puts an end to his weapon-stealing ways while also proving to be the duelist's equal in skill. Hmmmm.......

That said, looking at a FF historic lore standpoint, Gilgamesh is always fought by a party because he's such a massive challenge (lore wise) even if he's using something as awful as Excalipoor.

Regardless, my point was that forcing you into a solo battle in a MMO is absurd and an example of lazy design decisions. You should have the choice to engage the encounter how you will. Want to fight that easy mob with three people? Sure! You won't get as much XP. Want to fight that huge dragon alone? Sure! You're probably going to die.

It's about choice. And forcing you to solo a fight in an MMO is stupid.

and he is on a search for the legendary sword Excalibur but has always end up finding a fake version called the Excalipoor which you see him holding in the art.

The Excalipoor is FF series legendary weapon known for being the mother of all weakest weapons in the FF series performing only 1 damage for all attacks.

And my point is that he's been presented as a duelist, and would make no sense to have 8 people gang up on him and only prove that you on your own are no match. Mind you, in this case you're also helping Hildibrand since you're the single player character in that storyline, and it would take away from that by making it a group fight.

If he hadn't been presented as a duelist, I'd be okay with it being a group fight against him.

Well, it's the best game music composition ever, and Gilgamesh is easily one of the best characters in the FF lore. Hard to imagine it won't appear, but we can only hope for the best.

I guess anything Soken imagines is going to be much better than the reverb-echo fest that was FFXII's version. That particular arrangement was nice, but we can't really hear any melody due to the goddamn excess of reverb. Took all the personality.

You actually fight him solo in Dissidia Duodecium (But then that is a fighting game with RPG elements so yeah, different genre).

Even our last encounter with him was in a party (XIII-2), so yeah. He may "Challenge" someone one on one and considering Yoshi's non-stressful stance I wouldn't be surprised if this is the most pathetic version of gilgamesh ever lol.

You fought him in a party way more than you did one on one unless you did 1 character challenges via hacking or killing everyone off before encounter.

I have an inkling Gilgamesh will be split into two different fights at the very least.

The first, a one-on-one fight during the Hildibrand quest involving him.

The second, a FATE on the bridge itself on the same kind of timer as Odin and Behemoth.

The first will conclude the plot, but he won't be "defeated", he'll just kinda retreat. The second, he'll retreat, but not without dropping some form of currency, which could be used to purchase Genji gear in Revenant's Toll.

That's how I see things playing out, anyway.
